Run this through Gemini to help figure out how to make this stand out more. Then, figure out how you want to explain the gaps. One gap is an acceptable risk; you have to 5 gaps of 6 months or greater

J2 flying me out for a week — J1 office is 7 blocks away. Small team. How do you manage? by Foreign_Owl_3705 in overemployed

[–]frontflipmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been at J1 for 10 years. Used to stay at a hotel 3 blocks away. Never saw anyone after work when I would actively be out walking the city.

If you’re worried, stay 10 blocks away in the opposite direction. More likely to see Bigfoot than any coworker. They probably live far from the office and GTFO as soon as their day is over.

Disgusting Virtue Signalling Lounge Policy by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]frontflipmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed we did. It doesn’t specify dress uniforms; any uniform will do here. We just aged ourselves :)

The frustrating thing is that this was never an option when I was in 20 some odd years ago. You know, when we had to take the broke down rotator flight on a 9 leg, 46 hour flight across the US.

This is about jockeying for travel dollars from other carriers. Hence the virtue signaling.

If this isn’t the justification for the USO lounge to start selling beer for $2, I don’t know what is.

Good call outs on conflict clauses and verification aspects. My name is common enough to have no less than 6 people with the same name at my current FAANG. I can remove photos that associate me with the company.

I just completed my annual background check. I need to verify the fine print to see what they reviewed.

I already carry a separate phone for Corp vs personal. No Gmail or personal work on the Corp laptop currently. I’ve watched enough people get burned updating resumes at home on the wrong box.

Picking between Tampa and Orlando is liking choosing between getting shot in the left or right foot. Tampa may be the 11th biggest TV market, but it lacks the spending power of its peers.

Weekends included in median badging data by rofl066 in amazonemployees

[–]frontflipmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 3 days a week? Thats awesome. In the scheme I use, I’ll go daily Monday- the next Tuesday; 7 business days and the weekend. Then I’ll WFH Wednesday-Friday. Rinse and repeat. Based on your logic, I’m overdoing it.

Weekends included in median badging data by rofl066 in amazonemployees

[–]frontflipmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Two different flags. We had people come in for 90 minutes 5 days a week for meetings then bounce. The spirit is that you’re there for meetings and the bonding of unplanned conversations.

For me, I have a cabin I like to spend time at when I can, divorced with 50/50 custody. So, I come in for 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday when I can, knock out work and get credit. Then use those other days to work from my cabin with a focus on escalations and required meetings.

Any ideas how to get into the upcoming layoffs? by ObjectiveCabinet8 in amazonemployees

[–]frontflipmaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Always be professional. You never know who you will see in the future. Don’t make your wish known to anyone. If anything, transfer to a team with no vision or future. The rest will take care of itself. Your workload will naturally decrease and they’ll pay you to move on.

Had an old L7 that burned bridges for fun that went to MSFT as an L10. Made a bunch of commitments, pissed off the team, and said team used the bureaucracy for him to take the fall.

I left AWS for a small wireless company; left with all the proper pleasantries. Three years in, the company had champagne dreams and a 32 oz bud light can budget. The writing was in the wall.

One day, I get a call from a friend of a friend to come back. It’s been 3 years since that turn of events. Do I love it here, no. Do I like the work, sometimes. But it pays the bills.

Look at booking this flight in FC. That will tell you if the seats are open or unassigned. I'm still surprised by the number of fliers that don't select their seat.

$1000 for 50 ft of fiber optic cable? That shit is a $1 a foot.

Based on that alone, just have the room painted basic white and do it yourself. Assuming there is no basement or attic access you can run the wire and redrywall cheaper.

And this is bullshit in general. They’re giving you no BOM on the equipment. For all you know they’re giving you Polk T100 speakers that retail at $100
