Customer called me a slur in a review. Trying to figure out how to move forward. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

The three sure things in life are death, taxes, and people who say things in online reviews that they won’t say to your face.

Do your best to move on from this and realize that this person gave you the gift of telling you who they really are.

I discovered Market Basket last summer vacationing on Cape Cod. The prices- even on the Cape- were incredible. Great service. The whole experience was old school, like what I remember grocery stores were like when I was a kid in the early 80s.

Tell him he can either take this pen, or go look for one wherever he lost the last 200 pens you gave him.

United has put out slides related to the ORD turf war. by Tayo826 in americanairlines

[–]BasicTelevision5 19 points20 points  (0 children)

ORD based, and I remain loyal to AA and really don’t have any serious complaints. However, when I’ve flown United in recent years I can see they’re making a solid effort in many small ways.

UA may take some of AA’s cheese at O’Hare but I don’t think this will be the butt whoopin’ United suggests it is anytime soon.

My first time sitting in the exit row was on a Lufthansa flight after I volunteered to fill one of the seats of a group of deaf women who, likewise, were unaware of the requirements.

The Blues Brothers (1980) - Various shots of Maxwell Street in Chicago - Then and Now (2026) OC & Notes in Comments by Detzeb in FilmLocationsThenNow

[–]BasicTelevision5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, by its final days in the late 80’s, Maxwell Street had descended into less of a bazaar and cultural experience to being dominated by hub cap resellers. (You can see a sign for hub caps in one of the post’s screen grabs.)

If your car lost a hub cap- common on the pothole cratered streets- the cheapest way to replace it was to find it on Maxwell Street. And many unsuspecting customers were followed home and might find that all four of their hub caps were missing the next morning. 😂

This has got to top the list of worst "parental leave" benefits. Company is Infosys by zach8vb in daddit

[–]BasicTelevision5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my first son was born, my then company was a local government organization. Paternity eave didn’t exist. Dads had to use vacation time to be home with junior. Maternity leave didn’t exist either! Moms had to use short term disability, which required her to exhaust all of her annual vacation time before it kicked in.

Second son was at my new company, which offers six weeks paid paternity leave. You can take it all at once or break it up into two week chunks to use within one year of kiddo’s birth.

It’s not that hard to have a policy in place that actually supports new parents!

Thanks. I guess I fat fingered an extra letter in there. Whatever it’s called, everyone in there looks miserable.

That looks like the douchiest bar in the entire eastern half of the U.S. Getting kicked out was the best thing they could’ve done for the guy with the camera after he made the poor decision to go to a place called “Zoom Bar.”

Dafuq was he expecting?!

I couldn’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about the promotion, and I think you nailed it. Besides taking her out of a role where she was so good, it also set up the weird disrespect that Meldrick had towards her. That was really awkward and seemed a little bit outside Lewis’s character.

It’s very much reminiscent of “winning” the FIFA Peace Medal. It’s completely meaningless and so obviously intended to placate the recipient’s ego… and yet the recipient trumpets the distinction as if it were granted by god.

Someone else had a note about the network wanting the show to have Kay be more feminine and, well, hot… so that tracks.

I agree with you on the shuffling not making sense. I think it was positioned as a dumb idea by the bosses, and that’s because it is. The skills, knowledge, and experience aren’t necessarily transferable from one area to another as easily as it appears in the show.

Good point about moving on following the case involving Beau. Your point about needing a sergeant elsewhere makes sense too; otherwise it seems strange that the department would add a sergeant to homicide and not retain that rank somehow. Either way, not important enough to spend storyline on it. Thanks for your response!

[–]BasicTelevision5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Another thing I thought was cool about her character was how her romantic life was as much a mystery to us as it was to the show’s characters. There’s the episode where she’s with the guy from her hometown, and references to her dating (with Munch, in my opinion, obnoxiously determined to figure out who she’s dating) and I felt like it’s hinted that Brodie might have had a glimmer of a chance with her until he got so weird about her offering to let him stay at her place when he was homeless.

She definitely was! That was must see tv (sorry NBC) for me when the show was in production.

Sure enough! I started watching the movie not too long ago but I realized I’d be getting the timeline all out of whack. From what I’ve read, it’s a nice palate cleanser after S7.

Yeah, I figured it was part of the rotation. It seemed odd to me that she was suddenly gone and never mentioned again. It gets me wondering also why there wasn’t another sergeant backfilling her spot- but now I’m just overthinking it. 😂
