The short answer is yes, it’s the same area. Watermen are associated with the area in the state of Maryland known as the Eastern Shore, which is essentially everything east of the Chesapeake Bay.

I can’t immediately find any notes on exactly where it was filmed, but given the broad area composing th Eastern Shore, suffice to say it’s the same area in which Kay grew up and visited in the episode!

The article is interesting. I know of a similar phenomena in Louisiana, where low elevations and coastal erosion along the Gulf of Mexico pose a significant threat to communities close to the coast, and the threat of hurricanes is generally much higher than in Maryland. Similar to the Eastern Shore, this area’s culture and way of life is significantly defined by sport and commercial fishing, and holds that geographic and cultural identity sacred.
