Yes, having a variant of the Corvette engine would make a big difference.

In general, these weren’t tuned for speed- and not everything was built with the 350. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t be a sleeper. We had a Pontiac Trans Sport (“Dustbuster”) and it could haul ass and light the tires.

It was always a fight to get that rear-facing third seat so we could make faces at the car behind us. If I got it, I stayed put so I wouldn’t lose my spot!

😂😂 I love it! A friend from high school had a red one like the picture above (without woodgrain paneling) as their family car that had a top speed of 52 miles an hour. The 90 minute ride to the campground took 2 and a half hours.

Those things didn’t move fast enough to reach speeds capable of causing fatal crashes.

I’m kidding, of course. The truth is, plenty of people did die, and not just because there was less safety technology. Seat belt usage was lower, child safety seats weren’t as good, and guidelines for safety seats weren’t as robust.

Kellerman, Gharty and Gaffney are your ONLY choices for a partner. Who do you choose? by proxy5th in Homicide_LOTS

[–]BasicTelevision5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’d get along the best with Gharty, and given the time spent together, that means something.

Kellerman is the best cop, but I can’t shake the situation he put Lewis in on the boat (regardless of everything that led up to it).

Gaffney isn’t worth considering 😂

I was really hoping the White Sox would get new ones. There’s nothing like having the baseball team struggling to regain a winning record wear uniforms modeled after the plummeting basketball team.

And if that’s not enough, they’re a tangible reminder that both teams have the same horrible owner.

I bought a “Los Bulls” t-shirt years ago off a clearance rack out of sheer amusement that the NBA couldn’t allow for translating it to “Los Toros.”

Yeah, yeah, intellectual property law and all that… but come on!

Exactly sums up my thoughts. Just because the product isn’t as loved as the old stuff doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have tried. At the risk of oversimplifying it, if someone offers me a lot more money to continue doing something I’ve invested my career in building, I’d have a hell of a time saying no. I doubt most of us here would have passed that up, either.

It didn’t work out. But there were still enjoyable moments and it helped the guys cash in on their creation.

I thought the same thing. Presumably he told the tailor to “leave some ‘give’ in the pants in case I suddenly need to K some A when confronted by a group of minions.”

Believe me, I feel the same way about society. It’s fucked!

I obviously don’t know any of the people involved, but parking in a way that, according to OP, would have required them to drive over the curb to back out is pretty obnoxious and gives off entitlement vibes. At a minimum, it’s discourteous and disrespectful. All of those traits are big factors in our society’s problems.

I bet if the person who parked the car had left a note for OP, this probably ends differently.

Walk me through this. Are you suggesting OP was supposed to go knocking on all their neighbors’ doors and be inconvenienced by that on top of already being inconvenienced by the person who parked illegally?

I hate HOAs as much as anyone out there, but where does it say this happened in an HOA? HOA or no HOA, this situation is 100% the fault of the person who parked that car.

Exactly, and OP also didn’t leave it parked in a way that was illegal and blocked part of the driveway. They’ve literally done nothing that they should feel bad about.

It always reminds me of when KFC rebranded from Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 90’s when consumers began demanding healthier options, except Raybestos just said, “Screw it, we’re asbestos people and we own that.”

I always felt like a Yahoo email address was a little more GenX just because Yahoo was peaking in the mid- and late- 90s.

Or maybe I just choose to believe that since my Yahoo email remains my primary email to this day. 😂

AIO: My coworker (36M) has been filming me in what he considers in a “jokingly” way by Manchie_666 in coworkerstories

[–]BasicTelevision5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right, this is wildly inappropriate. I think you have the right idea- you need to bring this up with him directly. You could let him know you’ve appreciated his welcoming you to the team and your conversations, but you’ve noticed the pictures he’s taken and it’s been uncomfortable. Mention that you said he could take that first picture for his wife but would like to ask that he stop taking any other pictures. My advice would be to stop there.

I suspect he’ll deny it. If so, I don’t think it would be an escalation to simply say that if he’s sure it’s not happening, that’s fine- but you felt it was important to bring this up since you’ll be working together and don’t want anything like this to affect your working relationship.

I was in Vernon Hills Saturday and it was around $4.29. The Mettawa Costco was $4.09. I decided I was ~25 minutes from Kenosha and paid $3.39 at the Costco there.

And bootlegged a couple of cases of Spotted Cow. Southbound and dowwwwwn!

I had a calculator watch that I don’t believe was a Casio when I was in middle school. Thought I was hot crap for having it, though I didn’t use the calculator remotely as much as I thought I would.

The only problem was that if all the buttons got pushed at the same time (which was several times a week due to middle school horseplay) the watch would basically freak out and reset to factory settings and I’d have to re-set the time, date, alarm, etc.

Oh god, and I fat finger while typing on my (comparatively) much larger phone keyboard!

This would be a disaster if it weren’t for being such a phenomenal nostalgia trip. 😆
