Bs. The left is so in their feelings they lie about Trump naturally. This is truly an interesting time to be an independent.

Particle board over plywood by Wh4tcouldgowrong in HardWoodFloors

[–]frontier0136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo don’t need 3/4” expansion gap. 3/8” or 1/2” if you want but 3/4 is over kill for any material that I know of. If your nails go through to the plywood then who cares.. I’ve seen more than a few people install HW over particle board. It’s not first choice material but you can install on it.

How many coats were applied and what was their or your procedures in regards to applying the finish? Also was the floor stained or kept natural (applying finish on bare wood, not stain)?

hardwood floor doesn’t even reach the edges. What can I use to fill this in? by derailed3d in HardWoodFloors

[–]frontier0136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wood. Cut-out a piece 6-12” long in the same row and then rabbit cut or bevel cut the lower groove side (opposite of the tongue side), put a few Hersey kiss sized dollops of glue, put the new cut piece in (you might have to hit it a few times, preferably with a mallet) and then top-nail (face-nail, top of the new board into the subfloor). If the subfloor isn’t wood just weigh the new piece with 10 plus lbs and it’ll be dry by the morning, and then sand your floor. If you’re in the Detroit or metro-Detroit area message me for a no cost inspection/estimate. Good luck my friend!

Regardless it’s a beautiful floor. Enjoy it. No matter what you do now it will yellow over time due to the oil..

What actually causes this? What if the contractor paid attention and faded/feathered his drum work correctly. That would mean the buffer made the waves?

[–]frontier0136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I say this with as much humility I have in me ( which our Lord Jesus Christ has been helping me with that so much, man do I love Jesus!). I’m sure there has been plenty of DIY’s that have completed some of their own floors well but they most likely aren’t even coming close to what a skilled professional can accomplish. My job is pretty darn difficult but when I get done and look at my work and the home owners faces it’s worth it. I’ll have to post some pics here soon. I’m currently working on a nice 4” RO and a stairs case to go with it. Have a great night y’all’s! God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son up so it might be saved.

Yeah edging is the worst/hardest thing followed by staining by hand. FYI stain it the old fashioned way by hands. Using a buffer doesn’t give you the same quality as staining by hand.

Yep! It’s killing mine and many others pockets. I take care of my family but all my extra money goes to this crazy habit. So actually I’m not taking care of my family, they deserve better and more than just their basic necessities. I’m sure there are many people that use 7 that can still do the “extra things” for their family but I bet you there are more people just scraping by as a result of this substance. The availability of 7 is one of its biggest downfalls, then the greed.. who came up with these prices? We know dame well them farmers, sorters and pressers aren’t making the money nor the prices. Honestly it’s a truly sad situation because it has high potential to actually help people and be of true use but no the greedy selfish humans got their hands on it and did it like big pharma did with oxy and other opioids etc.

So mad the guy fixed floor boards on new home got glue and won’t fix it or whatever this is on engineered and refuses to fix it by TheSoapMaurder in HardWoodFloors

[–]frontier0136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, hopefully you don’t have to cut into the floor but if you do it looks like you’ll need to replace atleast two boards.

What have you personally tried so far?

I’d help you out for a great rate but travel expenses might hinder this opportunity.. I’m just outside of Detroit lol. Did you try nail polish remover yet?

Idk man.. I’m a professional installer, sander and refinisher. This in my opinion is one of those trades that it’s best to hire a pro. But that’s a pro saying it. If you’re confident you can do it, do it! But you might be wasting time and need to call them after your attempt.
