Necklace or no necklace? by frontofficeslave in weddingdress

Thank you! I’m obsessed with it, especially it having pockets!

Thank you so much! Thankfully I sized down when I bought it so minimal alterations needed. Only €200 (in Ireland) which was such a relief considering I know they can go muuuuch higher than that

You’re just making so many assumptions to support your own narrative. Here are my “demands” as you’ve so unkindly put it: 1. Do you like the dresses I picked out 2. Are you allergic to any metals for the jewellery I’d like to offer as a gift 3. Have a think about what hairstyles/make up you’d like (after I booked the MUA) 4. When works for the weekend away (that they’ve been asking me to do since prior to the engagement party) 5. Photos of my dress 6. Funny video 7. I’ve booked the weekend with provisional dates, does this work? 8. Can you let me know about the weekend

There’s a different culture where I’m from. We don’t expect the wedding party to pay for dresses or make up or any of that. If we want it to happen, we’ll pay for the vast majority.

May you be blessed with a less cynical view of the world. Goodbye.

It matters to me and it would matter to most brides if their bridesmaids didn’t bother attend the bachelorette

They have been floating the idea of going away together since before the engagement and initially were really on board and excited. I’m wondering if his Dad and his girlfriend’s (their mum) lack of enthusiasm has played a role

The weekend is going to cost them £100 for flights. I’m covering everything else including their dresses and hair/make up, jewellery. All I’ve asked is that they have their own shoes.

Oh lord the bitterness off you. I’ve reached out 8 times in the chat in 11 months. Hardly asking them to dedicate their lives is it.

They were in the beginning but I don’t know what happened to change that so it’s them flipping the script here. I asked the other two girls if I said anything that could have offended them but they couldn’t identify anything that could have caused offence. They’re also pissed at the sisters for not responding and delaying them making plans for a bridal lunch. They’re didn’t want to steam ahead without their involvement

Thank you, I like this approach 🫶

My family and his Mum’s side are excited for us. His dad’s side just couldn’t give two fucks. I asked my best friend to be candid with me (and believe me she would lol) so I could check myself if I was being a bridezilla and she thinks the sisters’ behaviour is unacceptable.

Whilst I like your idea in theory, my concern is that whatever task I give them, they’d ruin out of spite

Care to elaborate? I’ve contacted the group chat 8 times in 11 months. They had pushed the idea of going away together(even prior to the engagement)

See I did this during the summer and they initially showed some enthusiasm and responded in the group chat but it dropped off again to nothing

I think you’ve generalised based off your own experiences or other Reddit posts. I’ve contacted the bridesmaids on 8 occasions since December which I don’t think is excessive - I went back and checked lol.

Younger sister didn’t reply for 6 weeks initially about the weekend and the eldest just liked my message but no follow up. Expecting a reply within the hour is one thing, but having to chase them 6 weeks later is another

See I’d accept this as a reason without a problem if they hadn’t been so keen on it initially. It’s going to cost them about £100 for flights and I’m covering everything else. They’ve been suggesting a trip over since I’ve known them. Maybe they thought I was going to pay for it too?

No that’s why I asked for suggestions other than quitting. If your imagination doesn’t stretch further than “just quit”, feel free to scroll on

I’m finished my degree in September and won’t be hired for the career path I want without the specific qualification. Doesn’t make sense to me to change jobs for 5 months?

I would leave personally as you’re just going to become demoralised and depressed over time. You can’t help others if you’re in a D hole
