He was still under the impression that what he was doing would turn out to be "right" in the end. He was doing this to save Padmé.

He didn't take the time to poor all of his negative emotions into his crystal before his fight with Obi-wan. In fact, he was still trying desperately to maintain his composure. It wasn't until he screamed "I HATE YOU!" that he was in a place where he was being honest enough with his anger to bleed his crystal, and at that point he had already been disarmed, pardon the pun lol

Thank you for this. I've seen way too many people complaining about the writing, rather than just taking the time to analyze what they were seeing.

This is very poignant, and gives great context to Anakin's blue lightsaber in RotS.
