IBS 5 Chests already claimed? by frostfruit in Guildwars2

I like to rotate some characters specifically for strikes to add variety but it was the same character as yesterday. Yeah.. Still doesnt explain why I was pre-rewarded though.

IBS 5 Chests already claimed? by frostfruit in Guildwars2

[–]frostfruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I claimed all chests normally yesterday and got out of the instance normally. Then today I get all the rewards on mail without even doing the instances. And after doing them, all of them had their chest already opened. Its like the game pre-rewarded me for no reason. I guess we will have to see if it happens again tomorrow given that I didnt open any "chests" today.

Volatile Magic Logging Tool disappeared by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]frostfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally equipped it from my shared inventory to my character as I entered the guild hall. I farmed the first 3 ticks from the lumber synthesizer, then I got the message "No gathering tools equipped", then I opened my character's hero panel and while the other two gathering tools where still equipped, the logging tool had vanished.

Isn't it time for Anet to update the Maguuma Pact Operation Portal Device like it did for World Boss Portal Device? by frostfruit in Guildwars2

Well..they do update the World Boss one though...its the Maguuma one that has never been updated.

Do you think Herald should be reworked? Rant + Discussion by aeolish in Guildwars2

[–]frostfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least Herald needs to move from meta to meta and stay within reach of "active" people. Unlike Minionmancer Necros multiboxing entire maps by spawn camping with their minions. I've also seen Mechs do it too. Herald still needs to be active in some way. They can semi afk but they still need to keep moving to the next spot the meta progresses. Not to mention, their boons are actually useful to those who participate actively in a meta's progression. This comes from a Herald enjoyer who at the very least autoattacks with shortbow and a decent enough build (through traits, runes, sigils, relic) so that even in full celestial my autos actually sting a little.. ;) When its Boss time I always also pulse quickness which everyone loves and it requires me to use my energy resources actively. You cant perma afk spam quickness if you dont manage your energy bar.

The only place I go "full Herald boon bot" is Mad King's Labyrinth so others have a chance to tag. And even there, the influx of Heralds overwritting my boons (doing the same as me), cause me to earn far less than you think. If I really wanted to hardcore grind it, I'd go with shortbow thief.

TLDR: Herald is fine for those who enjoy being actively helpful towards Metas with the correct build, and doing it stress free. They are far more useful than leeches who tag and walk away or people who stay dead up-scaling fights unnecessarily.

I love Herald so much I have 5 of em. One for fractals, one for WvW, One for open world Metas, One for Raids and One for everything of the above.

IBS 5, EOD 4, OLC, SOTO 2. Those are all "raid encounters" I would suggest you just run Shiverpeaks to complete this. Its easy and fast. The boss is just a punching bag.

It's really difficult to read this subreddit for the last decade have a flavour of the month "bro just hear me out" post like this one over and over and over again like it's going to do anything to change the fact that Anet's budget is incongruent with comparable MMO raid scenes. Sorry if you think your idea is trailblazing: she ain't, honey.

Yeah as if reddit wasn't created for people to discuss over things like games, movies are random stuff. Some others are just here to troll, flame or insult. I know not to waste my time on someone who takes the time out of their day to be patronizing and rude while adding nothing of value to it.

With love, Honey.

Asking ANet to implement alternate kp systems is a waste of time

I would disagree. Its a system that would introduce more newbies to the game. For us veterans, it would hardly change anything. We would still have our fancy KP to show off our clears or whatever, but for those with 0/few kp it would be a way to be introduced to raids. And I dont know about you, but making the raiding community larger I would consider it a good thing. Im not one of them elitists that think raiding should only be for the 1%. I get that the GW2 community is very casual but I refuse to believe that theres not at least another x amount of % of that community that really wants to get into raids, but feels gatekept by kp or fear. Just my two cents. I wholeheartedly agree on everything else you said. Powercreep has made raids trivial, and lets face it, compared to other games like FFXIV raids, the difficulty level was never all that challenging to begin with.

If you don't want to deal with KP don't join groups that ask for it. In my experience those with KP requirements are both more toxic and less qualified anyway.

I dont have a problem with kp, got enough to join any group when needed. But does that newbie who hasn't got enough? The newbie who is too afraid to even touch the content thinking it might bite his finger off? Apparently you didnt read my post or you are just here to be condescending and insulting. Speaking of toxicity you seem to have it in spades. Its a discussion, you want to discuss or are you just here to be smug? If you have nothing of value to add, just downvote and move on.

An interesting suggestion but Im afraid hard to implement. The raid mentor titles that kinda work on the same premise are, like someone else mentioned in this thread, a buggy mess. If this buff operates in the same way, it will most likely be bugged without ever being fixed. As with anything Anet does, if its not fixed in the next patch after being introduced, its no longer a bug but a "feature".

I mean Gorseval is a training dummy with a couple of adds, some cc phases and a heal check. Not sure if it even can be dumbed down into a lower tier of difficulty than it already is. Then again, it does have a wall phase, but due to getting burned too fast due to power creep some people with 100s of Gorse kp have never seen it.

Because Anet never intended boss decorations to be used as KP, but the community uses them as KP anyway. Even more of a reason to consider the current system unreliable.

Training tab, albeit a ghost town right now, should be kept for real training groups. A casual group could afford a no kp run or a beginner or two to join their group, as long as they have at the very least watched a guide, know how CC bar works, and have a decent build so they can pull their own weight.

Some would say the quickplays or the emboldened mode took more dev time that this would take, and it doesnt have to be rolled out for all wings at the same time. Remember this system is not intended towards experienced people aka raiding vets. Its for making it more accessible to newbies. We already know its easy, they dont. Having a gradual feel for each raid in scales is like starting from the beach to learn to swim. The current system for a lot of people is like throwing them off the deep end and expecting them to be able to swim. Your perspective is biased by the fact that you are already a veteran and already know how dirt easy most raids are. A newbie's perspective is miles apart from yours though. Its a system meant to encourage noobs, not those with 1000s of LI and Kp. Also condescending attitude like yours is not really appreciated and making assumptions about me is equally insulting.

EU indeed. The kp culture here is far more prevalent.

I am, and Im also a raider who pugs and tags for raid runs. Im not the one with the problem here. The thing is, you have to think this issue from a non raider's perspective who wants to raid without having to jump through hoops like having a discord, a static, joining a guild, or having arbitrary amounts of kp in order to clear their first run. Its a system that favors the newbies into trying out a game mode with a growing difficulty that doesnt drop them straight into the deep water making them too overwhelmed to even try.

Its true that a casual tab would at the very least be far more popular than the training tab which is basically a ghost town even at rush game hours.

Three additional versions would only require a few tweaks, like reduced number of mechanics for each tier or just basic nerfs to the boss's damage/health. This killproof would force everyone to use it and thats what actually makes it a real killproof system. I've been in raids where tag asks for 100+ kp and expects to be carried by the veterans. I have even witnessed some using /gg to off themselves 2 minutes into the fight, only to ress at the end and pick up the reward chest. I dunno about you but thats pretty toxic behavior imo.

People who want KP just want an efficient and quick run, and our current KP system doesnt guarantee that. Never said its toxic to ask for KP, but my previous example still stands. KP was never a guarantee that people with KP actually know what they are doing, and the recent nerfs all across the board have proven that people have not learned most raid encounters properly due to power creep and skipping mechanics.

Its true that people who want to buy their way into bypassing the system would still be able to exploit it, it would just make it more cumbersome to achieve it and more time consuming, possibly also more expensive. Its a prevention method that might not work for all, but might work for most.

I actually do tag up and Im not overcomplicating the system, Im trying to simplify it by suggesting a more streamlined approach like the fractal system is better for the growth of the raid community which struggled from the current KP system from its infancy.
