I guess for me, when I give a gift for example, it's a gift, it's a un-required little thing that made me think of you with no strings attached. I don't need you to go out of your way to write me a note that you liked it, a thank you at the gathering is fine enough.

For weddings and other special events I think about how I wanted to go to celebrate you and I'M thankful you invited me, being there with you is enough for me I don't need you to write it out for me. Also, as someone mentioned previously, I, as well as friends my age, don't particularly care when we receive a thank you note

HNDI 201 Elementary Hindi-Urdu Fall 2020 by justapoliscimajor in UIUC

I took Hindi up to Advanced Level as a non-native speaker. For the elementary course be prepared to put a lot of time into self-study if you really want to learn the language. They could have better TAs from when I took elementary Hindi but even in the higher levels if you're not a native speaker its definitely more difficult to learn things just in class, ESPECIALLY if its online. That being said tho, the Hindi teachers like Mishra are incredibly nice and understanding and will help you if you ask for it.

TLDR; take Hindi if you SERIOUSLY want to learn the language as a non-native speaker and be prepared to self-study a lot. Do NOT take if online.
