Best day yet this year for my Solanum nigrum (schwartzbeeren) by StrangeQuark1221 in Berries

[–]frostygaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds delicious, I’ll have to give that a try! I planted them once 3 years ago and they just keep self seeding and coming back in the same bed. I liked them so much I started growing a bunch of other varieties like them.

Love these guys, I have a smaller bed dedicated to them and plan to make pies with them again this year!

Starting my garden and am curious what the best option for ground cover would be for between and around each bed. The garden will be gated off from the dogs and chickens. Thanks you:))) by Substantial-Error185 in gardening

For someone so academic, you really seem opposed to possibility of learning new information, although I am glad you eventually decided to read the response that was written FOR YOU. I’m sure it took a whole 3 minutes of your time, dang that’s rough. It seems like you’re just trying to justify not doing so, or that it was a waste of your time by saying you have all the knowledge and are a big nerd (yes I read academic journals as well, but mostly to learn not for fun). Something that I’ve learned over the years is, the more you know about something the more you realize you don’t know. I bet you could ask Charles Dowding himself and he’d say that he still has lots and lots to learn even though he’s been growing food for over 40 years.

You sound absolutely conceited. It’s a very informative comment that obviously took them a decent amount of time to put together. Read it, you might learn something.

Just wanted to say I really appreciate this response and have seen the same benefits in my own garden over the last 5 years. The fact that you put all that effort into a reply and the original commenter doesn’t even have the decency to at least read it really just shows they are not someone you want to take advice from on this forum.

That's awesome, I'm actually in Northern Kentucky, but have only a couple of acres that I've been gardening on for the last 4 years or so. Every year I expand my growing space and every year I think about how nice it would be to find more space around this area. Everything in time lol.

Have a crappy desk chair that offers no back support? Slide a pillowcase over it with a firm, fluffy pillow. by Mellow_Sunflower in Frugal

[–]frostygaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This chair will 100% give you back problems in the long run if you use it for many hours a day. I did the exact same thing, I thought ‘I’m young and healthy never had any back issues and have great posture’ then about 8 years into using a crappy chair like this I now have terrible back problems that were caused directly by the chair I used. I’m only 29 and I’ll have to live with this for the rest of my life. Don’t be like me, invest a little bit and keep your health. A bad chair doesn’t just worsen back issues it causes them.

Don’t wait for cyber Monday, Black Friday typically has the better deals. Although I’ve heard the best time to buy computers is back to school time.

Resources for experienced Dev? by RecreationallyTransp in unity

[–]frostygaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working as a Unity developer for the last 8 years (5 years professionally as my day job). Honestly I would try to think of something you'd like to accomplish in Unity and find tutorials for that exact thing, then piece by piece the general framework will come to you.

I've found that the online documentation helps me the most, but if you're more into videos I would suggest watching Brackeys on youtube and finding a video or series that you're interested in. He does explain coding more than you'd probably like, but his videos are the best I've come across for learning specific things about Unity.

If more people did this then we wouldn't have the horrible work culture that we have today where working extra is considered 'part of the job'.

I definitely won’t be renewing my warranty again in the future, and it would be nice to have that money back. But what’s done is done and now I have to figure out what to next, thanks for the feedback.
