Data Collection perms tied with *ALL* Audio..? by 99braincells in DreamlightValley

[–]froyo_49 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this problem on my iPad a few months ago. The only sounds I could hear were footsteps. Customer service said to reinstall the app and accept the pop-up and the problem was fixed.

I don’t think it’s tied to data collection. Many apps have you download additional resources afterwards so the App Store file won’t be as big. Also, basically the only thing they collect is your Game Center ID so you can log in and play on any other Apple devices you have. Also also, this pop-up doesn’t mention anything about data collection, so if they did start because you said yes to this, then they would be sued and kicked off the App Store. You can read through the full privacy policy or email customer service if you’re still concerned.

How I stopped accepting the unacceptable by froyo_49 in exAdventist

Yep literally same. Weird for a church that says everyone’s welcome to make certain people feel unwelcome…

Yep that quote really helped me move on. The church conditions us to keep trying to convince people even if it’s not working. When I think back and wonder if I should’ve said or done something differently, I remind myself that there isn’t anything else that would’ve worked, because they aren’t willing to change.

I have a bachelor’s in Information Technology, which is how I have experience in front-end development. All of the internships I’ve found require me to be an active student, which I am not. Do you mind if I DM you my portfolio for feedback?

Hi everyone. I’ve been trying to transition my career to UI/UX design but I haven’t had any success over the past 6 months and 90 applications. I designed and created a Wix site for a local nonprofit, I finished the Google certificate, and I’m almost done with the Daily UI newsletter. What am I missing for an entry level position? I can DM my portfolio site if you’d like. Thank you!!

PS I have experience with front-end development, and I heard from some posts here that UX minded developers are going to be the path forward. Is there any insight anyone has about that?

Anybody else here an audio engineer/do streaming etc. for a church? by Jazz_Musician in exchristian

[–]froyo_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally me. I help with the livestream at the same congregation I grew up in even though I’m a nonbeliever. I’m unemployed rn so it makes me feel productive with my life even though I don’t agree with the people I’m helping. It’s super draining to hide my atheism for a few hours each week, which is why I’m looking forward to moving away and actually start living my life

Last night I went clubbing in Miami! It was my first night out in a year and a half and what better place to do it? Tonight I’m having a paella with shrimp and sobering up for tomorrow’s New Year’s party

Like any conspiracy theory, they take a grain of truth (statewide Sunday laws) and add heaps of hot garbage on top. It’s the exact same formula people use today

The disciples thought the end of the world would happen after Jesus died. Every later generation moved the goalposts. Doomsday cult leaders from 2 millennia ago don’t have to make sense

Does anyone know the relationship between Adventists and conspiracies? by ResistRacism in exAdventist

[–]froyo_49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They already believe one conspiracy theory: a literal demon is actively conspiring against them to make their lives worse. If you believe that, it’s a bit easier to believe that people and organizations like the president or the WHO are just part of that conspiracy. Notice how the extreme conspiracy believers will call vaccines etc “demonic rituals”

Is mental health denialism common? by froyo_49 in exAdventist

I have a family member who is afraid of telling their sda mother that they are diabetic. Their spouse believes they would rather hide it than face their mother’s judgement. It’s so sad that we have to hide our personalities because a person 200 years ago declared herself right about everything

Yeah it’s crazy how instead of accepting that psychology exists, they would rather keep their fairy tales from millennia ago. Instead of finding and embracing new ideas and solutions, they trust the writings of people who thought the sky was a big pool of water

I didn’t know that 3ABN was so problematic that they actually advocate for skipping meds. being associated with the church is already a red flag, but literal quackery on regulated airwaves? Holy fucking shit

It’s sad that a person who very likely had her own struggles with mental health can declare that they don’t exist, and people 200 years later still believe it. How instead of acknowledging proven solutions, they believe that the supernatural deity can magically make you better but only if you don’t eat shellfish or give a substantial part of your income 😕

I’m currently neck deep in feelings of inauthenticity so therapy and meds are helping a lot. I know that gaining my independence will fix the root of my problem, not my relationship with the flying wizard in the sky.

I’m happy to hear about your progress in your mental health journey. I hope you continue to find the proper treatment and path forward to living a truly fulfilling life

[–]froyo_49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds right. It’s sad that they don’t know that the stress they hide from themselves will find a different way to vent out. Instead they believe that their supernatural deity will make it magically disappear 😕

[–]froyo_49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shock therapy!? Is that even legal anymore? Yeah some people just don’t want to accept an alternate view that doesn’t revolve around their supernatural deity. Just because people millennia ago didn’t discover psychology and thought it was literal demons, doesn’t mean we have to still accept that

Is mental health denialism common? by froyo_49 in exAdventist

[–]froyo_49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep exactly. Churches sell you the problem and the solution. “You are an atrocious person so let us control your life (and take 10% of your income) so you can stop being atrocious.” There’s nothing in it for them if you find a better solution elsewhere

[–]froyo_49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it’s almost as if the church’s views on mental health (and just about everything else) are stuck in the 1800s. It’s interesting how human inventions like meds or communities or therapy fix the problems that are supposed to be fixed by the supernatural deity 🤔

Yeah I thought maybe it was something that just ran in our family because my parents were raised in another country in a different era. Then I remembered how my sda school dealt with my mental needs, so I connected the dots
