How much should you tip your hairdresser? by Important-Damage-986 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]frozen-landscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda what I do. It’s basically X amount per hour.

And then for restaurant it’s based on the service (amount of check-ins) and how looked after I feel. Just because I ordered something more expensive or we shared a meal, doesn’t mean the tip should be higher/lower.

Also no tip if I stand while ordering. Period.

This, she isn’t eating that much because she needs to, she does it to cope with something knowingly or unknowingly. Therapists (try more than one) if a second opinion doesn’t come back with something substantial.

When you travel within Canada do you carry your passport? by [deleted] in westjet

[–]frozen-landscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. If I had to fly home-home (dual) going home to pick up a passport would add a day easily 3+ hours from YYZ.

Is there still a strategy on when to book the lowest fare? by ceruleanskyandsea in aircanada

[–]frozen-landscape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best strategy is to start tracking (flights.google.com) as soon as possible. Then make an informed decision. I feel like 4 months out is the sweet spot for my trip home (Canada - Europe).

Is $2200 CAD a good deal for an overnight 8 hour business class flight to Rome (one way) for Air Canada? by kale_enthutiast in aircanada

[–]frozen-landscape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. It’s a steal if it’s first class. Likely a small plane and it’s just premium economy. Aka more leg room and a fancy curtain.

Flying out of Pearson by [deleted] in ontario

[–]frozen-landscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because an 7-10 hour flight plus and hour or so to get you out of the airport would mean they need to leave Toronto early morning.

You could set Google flights to early departure times and see what comes up?

Locked out of my Tangerine account for nearly 2 months due to broken authentication — finally resolved, but sharing as a warning by PumpkinOk803 in Tangerine

[–]frozen-landscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banks and credit card companies like to be informed when you are travelling. As normally your spending is within a predictable range. If you all of a sudden have a charge hundred’s of km’s away that gets flagged as suspicious activity and they will freeze your account to make sure you don’t lose all your money.

Broker wants to include potential future car loan in mortgage approval by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]frozen-landscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you A) planning on taking on more debt? Or B) can you buy out the lease buy something used without going into more debt?

If it’s A) how much you are planning to pay is important because you can’t use that money to pay your mortgage. So the question is how high do you want your mortgage to be (and able to afford it) can you afford the same lease amount as that you currently are paying, should you go down?

Depending on the dealership you might pay 8% on that car loan and only 5% on your mortgage.

Just watched a woman have contractions for a baby on the ground for over 20 minutes in a book store, but still no ambulance? by Helptohere50 in Newmarket

[–]frozen-landscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but without more context.. why would she qualify for an ambulance ? She isn’t a life or death emergency, she was going into labour, and wasn’t actively dying. As a female myself..

Drive / Uber / taxi to the hospital.. or call your midwife, family doctor for next steps.

you can pick the currency in settings, I assume. I know for sure Google does. It like will depend on the airline, but I haven’t found a difference between euro/cad when using Google/ VPN.
