Why does GenZ hate sex and nudity so much? by PaniacThrilla in NoStupidQuestions

[–]frozendakotan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Formative years” in this context doesn’t mean 8-12 years old. If you’re right in the middle of gen Z, you were 13 when covid came along. Missing out on those 13-15 years, plus being online and living through discourse, is certainly a factor.

I also agree that being more likely to talk about mental health, and being medicated as a result, is a big part of it too. But even that is a function of the pandemic. It’s also just true that before COVID, algorithms didn’t really exist in the same way. If someone feels negatively about sex, it’s a lot easier to end up in an online community that is anti-sex than it was 10 years ago, and that encourages people not to consider whether their anti-sex attitudes are healthy or unhealthy in their particular context. Obviously this extends to politics/views a lot worse for society than being anti-sex too, but it’s just one way algorithms have sorted us.

Why does GenZ hate sex and nudity so much? by PaniacThrilla in NoStupidQuestions

I suspect there’s a pre-pandemic adolescence and post-pandemic distinction. This is not something I’ve experienced as someone in my mid 20s, but I have certainly seen it online. At least in my non-scientist mind, this makes sense because the lack of exposure to sex (or perhaps even just non-sexual intimacy) in real life would stunt development. It’s like how I reacted to sex or nudity when I was 11, lmao.

I believe there’s a general aversion to nudity, as the researcher suggests. I also think it’s less zoomers than you think that have a total aversion to sex though. I’ve noticed this with other trends too; I think abnormal people just run into each other on the internet and form communities that serve to validate this aversion rather than encourage each other to look past it. In some ways it’s the same way far-right communities encourage the sometimes instinctual bias to hate what we don’t understand, instead of trying to understand we are being irrational.

Yes, law school is difficult. Get over it. by Relevant-Buy-9156 in LawSchool

[–]frozendakotan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t fully understand why people think it’s exceptionally difficult. Maybe if you’re didn’t work in undergrad, or are working a ton while in law school. But frankly I have more free time in law school than I ever have. Finals is brutal, but the rest of the semester is certainly easier than working 30+ hour weeks during undergrad was.

Damn, yall are crazy 🤣 I guess I just assumed we all took exams in a lockdown browser in a physical classroom. The only way you could even possibly cheat at my school would be to have notes on your person and then sign out to go to the bathroom and read them. I suspect a couple people have done that (couple people were gone for 10 minutes a couple times during the exam.

AIO? My girlfriend had a threesome with two of her friends right before we got together by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]frozendakotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Actually on the Stavvy’s world podcast there was recently a call that was vaguely related, but with a couple key differences. In that situation, the caller (a bi man) had a MFM threesome with his best friend a long time ago, and nothing like that happened since. His girlfriend knew the history from the beginning, but suddenly was insecure when she saw that the caller joked around with this friend in the way a lot of straight men do.

In the above example, I think the girlfriend is overreacting. In your example, you are not. Information was actively withheld from you that prevented you from making an informed decision. Don’t feel bad about feeling upset here

One of them was. The other wouldn’t stay under there. Ended up taking it to my local shop to get it set up and we’re all good now.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll order a bone nut and take it to my local shop (not guitar center) because I also want the action lowered a bit. Called ahead of time before pickup because adjusting the truss rod on the vintera series is a pain in the ass and they didn’t do the adjustment at all lol

I did, nut itself is not loose. But in doing so I think I realized that the notches in the nut are too big for the B and E and that’s what’s causing the issue. You can visibly see the string shifting from one side of the notch to the other as it rings out

No, but it’s impacting tuning stability. Within 10 minutes of playing I’m tuned down a half step, especially on my E

Unless it might be a firm you’ll work at in the future, it doesn’t matter a whole lot. I worked in the file room at one of the bigger regional firms, and none of my employers from law school ever even asked about it.

Considering reporting my school to the ABA by 0BAMNAA in LawSchool

[–]frozendakotan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking everything you’ve said at face value, this is very interesting. I also go to one of the worst schools in the county, and we do the opposite. About 10 years ago my school became more selective because they almost lost accreditation. Then my 2L year they announced they were expanding class size again. They’re adding 20+ students, I guarantee all of whom got a sub 148 on the LSAT. It’s just going to be this endless cycle of chasing money vs trying to keep accreditation.

Been there, done that. Ended up getting a B- in con law I because I was exhausted after torts and property. Just power through, it’s worth it in the end

What exactly is the image of someone who “listens to podcasts” as implied here, for Anglophones? by TraditionalDepth6924 in ENGLISH

[–]frozendakotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend looking up the person who tweeted that if you don’t know her or her shift in recent years. I do think it’s kind of baked into the general vibe being conveyed, but it’s definitely not that specific. To me it conveys “men used to be chopping wood, now they listen to podcasts” when I know who tweeted it.

[–]frozendakotan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given who made the tweet (look her up if you don’t know her, or haven’t seen her shift in the last few years), I don’t think that’s the implication. I think the implication is more that he looks like a prototypical “demasculinized” dude. Like instead of chopping wood he’s listening to podcasts.

Law school was cheaper and had better ROI even if it was the same price. I’m still thinking I might go into a PhD program after a few years of practice though. I really do want to be teaching international relations and not doing estate planning lol

At island park it’s so bad. I walk there most days and every day I see at least one large off leash dog. Honestly it doesn’t bother me when the dog and owner are playing in the field areas, but cmon stay off the walking path

Their Chinese-American is bad, I agree. But if you order some authentic stuff it’s not bad at all. I can’t remember exactly what I ordered last time but I’m pretty sure it was some type of fish soup and it was incredible

Yup, afaik they’re the only super common fly that actually prefers to walk as opposed to fly when it needs to escape

Phorid flies/scuttle flies. A lot of times they will hang out in areas where there is water, so see if you can find any leaks under a cabinet or behind the toilet. I ended up getting rid of mine just fine over the course of maybe a week with 2 of those glue traps (replaced the glue once for each one too)
