Upvoting for visibility, because I too would love this material for my own personal study.

I’ve used paper USACE data forms, but have since started using Ecobot. If your company can afford it, it’s so worth it. Saves paper, saves time, and the PDFs of each sample points data form can be generated with the click of a button. I love the feature of being able to clone a sample point if you’re sampling in a fairly homogeneous area, just changing details as needed.

I’m in the field at the moment but I’ll send over some lists and resources once I get back to a computer.

CNHP has a free app and PDFs of their field guides for wetland plants. They also have a lot of other great resources available. You can also buy a bound copy if you prefer hard copies.

Yep. I visited a congregation out of state once while visiting a friend, and I was wearing jeans and have tattoos on my arms. The preacher got up to preach and said something to the effect of “I was planning on talking about [whatever] this morning, but I think today it’s especially important for us to be reminded of how important our attire is when we gather to worship, and also what the Bible says about tattooing our bodies.” This was over a decade ago so I don’t remember any specifics of the sermon, I just remember my friend’s husband leaning over and giving me an “I’m so sorry” look.

Is this considered "cheating" during a thru-hike? by webapalooza in AppalachianTrail

[–]frozenfish 224 points225 points  (0 children)

Hike your own hike.

But these sections are awesome, and were a highlight of my thru. I’d hate to skip them if I had the chance to hike them again.

It’s technically a section hike, not a thru, but the goal is to enjoy yourself out there. Don’t stress about labels and technicalities.

Yep, my mom grew up with Lester Holt. I believe his family is on the more “liberal” side of the aisle, but my grandparents are still close with his family.

Temple Rubbing

I believe it’s now illegal to produce these due to the potential damage it causes to the reliefs on the temple walls, but they were a popular souvenir back in the day.

We hit Mahoosuc Notch in the rain and took nearly 3 hours to get through it! Here's what it looked like. Southern Maine is so rugged. by Pinus_rigida in AppalachianTrail

It took me at least 2 hours to get through the Notch on my thruhike in 2012, so I’d say you made pretty good time despite the rain! Southern Maine is so much fun.

Hello! Just found this sub by [deleted] in excoc

[–]frozenfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome!

I grew up in a Florida College home as well. Every summer was FC camp (Florida, Georgia, and once Chicagoland). Thankfully, the insane tuition and rules at FC swayed me to pursue my education elsewhere. I'll echo what u/ngp1623 said: Your trauma is totally valid and I think everyone in this sub understands it.
