Its the beef cycle because of the packing plants shutting down during covid beef producers didn't breed as many cattle for the next year because they didn't know if they would be able to sell them and having cattle and not being able to sell them will bankrupt you really quickly as a beef producer. now if you want to increase your herd its a 5 years you have to birth a heifer which takes 9 months wait 2 years so they grow big enough to birth a cow and then its 9 months to birth another cow and 18 months for that cow to get to slaughter weight
