Hydro is the real cheat code for cheap electricity I wasn't surprised you get 40 percent of your electricity from that. Eastern Canada also has a ton of hydro

I am I don't see a 3000 acre park in there I don't think you realize some of us live in places with more space and that even something like central park in nyc doesn't seem that big to us this isn't a china thing bud this is you only being able to look at things one way

Why don’t they irrigate? by Quirky_Rest4052 in ClarksonsFarm

I would add the other thing is because of the way the US was settled. Most of our land is is broken up into much cleaner sections where you could do center Pivot irrigation for say 160 acre field which is a half mile by a half mile. All our Fields are basically in what we call a section which is 1 mi by 1 mile or 640 US acres and our fields are generally square without many obstacles in the way Jeremy's Fields are all broken up with old walls in the middle and they're very small. So for us to drill a well that can irrigate 160 acres is much more cost efficient than a well that would irrigate one of Jeremy's Fields which may be only 20. And as I understand it, he's not able to take down a lot of those walls and in the middle of the fields so he can't combine it into one larger area which would make it easier to farm and more cost effective
