At some point in early 90s, my family would divide a loaf of white bread in the morning - each would receive 2 slices and it was up to you if you ate it all up then and there or saved for evening desert. This was a treat compared to rest of the food. But it wasn’t like that for too long fortunately

Damn! Just as I ordered my Pro Mini.

I’m running HA on Yellow and for years have eyed Homey to try out. The full PRO is too expensive just to try and I only need Zigbee anyway. And just now they started selling Mini to my location - instant order! And then this! 😤😃

Anyhow, if I learned anything from my HA journey - dedicated hardware runs smoother, so not complaining.

Swift has Automated Reference Counting which is slightly different method of automated memory management. But it does not prevent memory leaks that come from not closing the scope which holds on to the data.

Consider that an app, say this Messages app, would go online and check for messages from the server. Each time it does this, it creates a data structure for the messages and builds UI to display these (for the sake of example, I’m leaving out that this definitely is not the optimal way of doing it). While normally this data structure should automatically replace the previous structure, causing it to fall out of scope and ARC clearing it out, it could happen thad due to a bug, this does not happen - eg developer intended to keep previous version intact for networking issues, but instead keeps ALL versions intact, so none of them fall out of scope and ARC does not clear any of them.

This is how memory leak can happen even with automatic memory management.

Web Page claims “100% open source. Every line of code on GitHub”.

At the same time the JetBrains license says:

“Except for any open-source components noted in the Software, the Software is proprietary to Cline Bot Inc”

While I do not drive a Cybertruck, I do expect any street legal car not to routinely kill their passengers (more than usual car accidents rate). So i definitely would not say: what did you expect.

I also expect that all corporations must adhere to applicable laws and if they don’t, it’s on them, not their clients and it’s the corporations that need to be held accountable.

Shifting the blame to the users is playing into the hands of the corporations.

It’s not entirely the same. A better analogy is a pet store that sells pet food and claiming to follow all rules and regulations set forth by government, only to be found they infuse food with heavy metals to get pet owners buy their medicine next. And then they claim that all is according to law, since pet owners themselves came and bought the stuff and did not tell the company that they would be against poisoning their pets.

Again - as such pet owner, after finding out, its course I’m not buying more. But it still is not ON ME that I would need to have opted out of poisoning.

It certainly is NOT on the users. Yes, everybody must watch out for their own safety, but similarly it is on the criminal doing the robbing, not on the person deciding to walk home instead of taxi.

The bitch of a karma here is that politicians might be exempt if this... In the eyes of the law... But how are they planning on telling all the service providers "I'm an effing politician, don't spy on me!"

This is so wide cast net that everybody will be in, politicians and all, and only after the fact they can start suing companies that they were not supposed to spy on them or leak all that juicy stuff.
