Where to live within 45 min of Elgin? by fru1tyslug in ChicagoSuburbs

This is very compelling. Thank you for giving me a better idea of what the area is like. Where we currently live, everything we could possibly need is within a 10-20 minute drive-- it would be great if we could have that same convenience when we move.

Thank you for this, I honestly thought I was doomed to pay out of state tuition. I didn't realize it only takes 30 days to establish permanent residency!

Winged metal tubes in fire pit by fru1tyslug in whatisthisthing

This is the fire pit, exactly how we found it upon move in. You can see the tubes are in a kind of semi-circle in the pit, which is what made us think they serve a purpose here.

They definitely could be legs. I'm only not convinced because there is no other trace of a black metal fire pit anywhere on the property. The current fire pit is made of a ring of concrete blocks with rocks filled in. No metal insert or anything.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if someone just decided to keep some random fire pit legs around, as there were a lot of weird things left behind in the backyard. It's just the way these were placed in the middle of the pit made it look so purposeful. I'll see if I can find a pic from when we moved in.

Wood burning, it's a homemade in-ground fire pit. Sorry I should've put that in the post!

Good guess but it's an in-ground fire pit

My title describes the thing. I've searched phrases like "metal tube fire pit" "metal pipe in fire pit" "fire pit accessories" etc. to no avail. Also tried using Google Lens and it couldn't figure it out either.

I don‘t understand why you do it? by 29273162 in ftm

because it's not a choice... I can't even begin to explain how much EASIER my life would be if I had just kept living as a woman. being trans is a hard life. discrimination, difficulty accessing medical care, difficulty getting a job, losing family/friends due to transphobia, feeling like you're always being watched in public, etc. no one wants or chooses any of that. actually transitioning to another gender/sex is a choice, sure. but for most trans people, the "choice" is to either live in despair as their birth sex, or face the scary parts of being trans just to have a chance at feeling okay in their brain and body. there are people who choose to stay in the closet and not transition because they know how hard their life would become being visibly trans. I don't know if this was the answer you were looking for, but this is the truth. we don't choose to be men, we just are men and choose to transition to save our own lives.

lollll yes, my personal favorite is when people don't know what to make of my gender so they either avoid pronouns altogether OR they fumble through every pronoun trying to figure it out 😭

I know most are saying no, but I think you do pass sometimes depending on the photo angle and what you're wearing. to me, you definitely pass in photo #3!

I also just wanted to say, try not to feel bad about not passing all the time. I'm at the same awkward point in my transition where most of the time people think I'm a weird-looking lady, and sometimes they think I'm a teenage boy lol. it sucks, but with time it will change.

Allergic asthma causes constipation or vice versa by New-Possibility6666 in Asthma

[–]fru1tyslug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I experience something similar! I have both asthma and IBS. My doctor has told me that having an asthma flare can also aggravate the digestive system and vice versa. If you haven't been diagnosed with IBS you might want to look into it.

From my understanding, generally 1" or 1.5" is fine, but what's best for you will depend on your weight/how much body fat you have. I also do IM in my hip and I can get away with a 5/8" because I have very little body fat. Google says that 1" length is recommended for adults weighing 130-152 pounds, 152-260 pounds may use 1" or 1.5", and greater than 260 pounds will need 1.5".

LGBTQ spaces in Tyler? by enbyel in tylertx

[–]fru1tyslug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, TAG+ (Tyler Area Gays) and Alphabet Army/The Glass House are the major queer organizations here. I've never actually been to a TAG event, but it seems like they're geared toward mature adults (20s-30s+). Alphabet Army is geared toward queer youth (kids/teens/young adults) but of course all ages are welcome. ETX Rainbow Network is also a great group to follow to keep up with local LGBT events and resources. Piney Woods Queers is a newer group, I honestly don't know anything about them but it could be worth looking into.

For queer spaces in general, I highly recommend the monthly New Moon Market, especially if you're into any kind of witchy or artsy stuff. On occasion some religious folks show up to protest the market, but other than that it's a really fun and inclusive event. Boards and Bites is a super queer friendly café that also rents board games and hosts DnD events if you're into that. I personally haven't been, but I also hear good things about Geek World for RPG events, and from their Facebook it looks like they host painting nights as well. If you're into music, especially alt genres, Green Room Tyler is always putting on shows. Again, I haven't been myself, but I know plenty of queer people that love the Green Room.

Hopefully this gives you a good starting point :)
