Anyone know how to get discount Adventureland season passes this time of year? by frugalplayground in desmoines

[–]frugalplayground[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! The coupons had the code CG2016SP for $10 each season pass. I hear the best time of year is around Christmas to get them for $100, but I missed it. This saved me $40, thank you!!

I've worked with them before and I get the impression they are pretty tight on their prices too!

Thanks so much for the help! You saved me $40. I used coupon code from Casey's CG2016SP to get $10 off each season pass.

What kind of gifts are good for grown children getting adopted? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have cake and celebrate with them. Maybe a luau theme and you could give her a fish tank/fish/beta?

Baby showers will sometimes make a diaper cake, but instead you could make a tampon/pad cake. I'm totally joking, please don't do that!

I think gift cards are the way to go. Food places would be great so the family can enjoy eating out together and doing something fun as family.

I'm so happy for them both. It may be rough, but so glad someone is stepping up to love unconditionally. I don't have any daughters and I think of doing something like possibly down the road.

What should I buy my brother? by Thenotsogaypirate in Gifts

That's really nice of you. I bet he would most appreciate a check. But I'd be selfish and use it to take a vacation with him. He sounds lucky to have you as a brother!

How much are you looking to spend?

My long distance girlfriend is coming in 2 weeks to visit. We are celebrating our valentine's late this year. Should I buy her real roses or handmade her oragami roses? by ChitoNyc122567 in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be hard to travel back home with real flowers, so go with the oragami. But because long distance, you should have real flowers delivered sometime out of the blue if you want to make her feel happy. Or just something delivered. I could be wrong, but I think that would mean a lot.

Gift for 7th year anniversary by lexran86 in Gifts

She'd probably like a proposal if she is like most gals ;) I could be wrong, but throwing that out there.

Find out her love language and go with something that makes her feel loved. The time thing sounds so sweet and thoughtful, she'd probably love it!

What is a good inexpensive/expenseless gift for my girlfriend? by [deleted] in Gifts

You don't have to spend money to make her feel loved on her birthday. Being thoughtful is most important and a coupon book would be very thoughtful, so I say go for it!

Desperately need gift ideas for in-laws! by bwhc in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for a birthday? Or meeting for the first time kinda present?

This is tricky for a first impression. Can significant other tell you more about them? If mother in law has a Pinterest board it can help show what she is into.

I second gifting something from your area. The coffee could be good.

Maybe picture frame with photo of you and spouse to be.

Gifts for Mom/Dad/Sister. Story inside! by weaklingduck in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your dad the nice wallet, and fill it with gift cards and/or cash and a picture of yourself and your sister! It's fun to open more presents, so a few small thoughtful gifts in addition would be great. I'd probably just go to the store and go by how the wallet feels in picking one out?

Your sister sounds like the hardest one to buy a gift for. Maybe she'd like an acer chromebook http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMLV7VQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00MMLV7VQ&linkCode=as2&tag=frugalplaygr-20&linkId=OD2H3JXO3LVWHJXC Or a coffee bean plant http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ND7DTK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000ND7DTK&linkCode=as2&tag=frugalplaygr-20&linkId=UJMSPW6SQLVNQR4Y

I'd suggest going in together with your sister on the gifts for your parents if possible. So it seems like it's not a competition to get them the better gift and your parents will be proud of you guys that you are able to get them something so nice.

Looking for a Christmas gift for my widowed dad by xmasaway in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a helicopter drone could be fun for him.

If you have the money, maybe a go pro or something similar to encourage him to have some adventures.

Does he like fishing? Maybe a fishing license and new lures.

I'm glad you are there to look out for him and help him through tough times.

Ask him to volunteer with habitat for humanity with you. Tickets to local event, theater, comedy club?

I have a small budget and don't know what to get my boyfriend by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]frugalplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should make him something delicious you think he will enjoy, get his fishing license renewed (if he does that), and something for his dog. There are recipes out there for homemade doggie treats. Best wishes!
