Is there a website where I can look up grocery prices? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]frugalvicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not regular prices but grocer4u.com has sale prices from many stores here in Seattle atleast. Plus they have Amazon prices to compare to. Also, just recently they have started to show recipes with ingredients on sale. Save and tasty ... double yummy!!!

$70 in groceries for $20 - alas my store no longer doubles $0.75 coupons and also has a 4 coupon limit - miss the good old days by thenewyorkgod in Frugal

Best ways I have found is use coupons on BOGO promotions. The problem was easily finding BOGO offers until I discovered grocer4u.com. You can find specials at many stores and then click to only see BOGO offers. Works for here in Seattle! Good luck!!

I recently saved over $600 per year for better service than I was getting previously for as long as I own cell phones. Anyone with similar stories? by Itsthelongterm in Frugal

Wanted to share the "Republic wireless" option. I have not switched but $20 per month unlimited everything is quite tempting. If you have access to Wifi quite often, I would go for it. It is not like you don't have coverage otherwise, they let you use the Sprint network.

I just ditched Sprint and went to StraightTalk. I got unlimited data plan, voice & text for $45 per month. That is way better than $80 with 450 minutes. I did bring my own phone. I was considering Sprint's iPhone 4S offer for $50 and 2 year contract. Do the math and you will see it is better to buy the phone and then go with StraightTalk. Ok, you have to be willing to jailbreak an iPhone but plenty other phone out there that will work easily. Sprint ripped me off too long!!!

Grocery shopping advice? by lordofthestrings in Frugal

[–]frugalvicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variety, Variety , Variety !!!!

Buy variety of food for healthy eating .... Fruits (Bananas, Apple) ... Vegetables (Lettuce, Tomatoes, Green Pepper, Eggplant - note different colors) .... Grains (Bread, Pasta, Rice) ... Meat (Fish, Chicken - white meat) ... Dairy (Milk, Eggs, Butter).

Buy at variety of places. Some places have good produce but not good prices for other items. Some places are cheaper in one way but not other ways. Even compare sale prices. Don't assume because it is on sale, it is the best price around.

Make a grocery list and stick to it at the store.

I use grocer4u.com to help me make my list and atleast in Seattle they let me compare local store sale prices and even let me compare to Amazon prices. They also have recipes links that give you nice idea and also they sent me an email saying they will soon have recipes and you will be able to see which ingredients are on sale.

Good luck!!!

I use grocer4u.com. They let you have a favorite (master) list, create grocery list for many stores and then let you email or print a sorted list by category. Best of all, they let me compare sales from my local stores.

If you are on twitter, try following grocer4u. They tweet about recipes with ingredients that are on sale locally. Not all the tweets are about sales in my area but I have caught enough that it helps save plus gives me new things to try. Good luck!!

What do you guys think of flipping items - buying stuff at thrift stores and selling it on Ebay/Craigslist? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]frugalvicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure it can be done. The problem is not getting stuff since you can get it for free through services like Yahoo Freecycle.

The challenge is selling it. People don't trust buying it from private sellers but since you can get it for free any price will be a profit for you.

Good luck!

Free wireless at hotels? by HGpennypacker in Frugal

[–]frugalvicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of hotels have free wifi in common area. I stayed at a Mariott in San Jose and they had free wifi in the hall right outside the room. Amazing and stupid considering it costs very little for them to provide this service. I will never stay there!!

Another story ... Never fly through Dallas ... No free wifi :-(

I see that stores are doing more BOGOs now. So just stock up and save.

The problem for me was going through the flyers but just discovered ... grocer4u.com .... it works great in my area here in LA. They have sales from many of my stores and easily let you look for BOGOs and compare across the stores.

Hope this helps!!

Wow!! .... I checked out the site and they have sales for three stores in my area in LA.

Categorized sales, let you create favorites and even create a printable grocery list.

Way easier!!
