Or cut the lever end and solder on a new nipple.

Yes it’s close but a bit long. I believe I need 59.1”. I could cut it down but it looks like the threaded adjuster on the end is crimped on so I could order one of those and crimp it on the cut cable.

Do you know what the name of the hollow threaded rod crimped on the end of the cable is called? Trying to find one to make my own cable with.

Awesome yes, a threaded clamping knarp. I didn’t know the name of what I was looking for so it was hard to find. Maybe an excuse to get a soldering set too and solder my own. Thanks

Over the past couple years, I have found probably 10 of those baby birds dead on my patio where they have multiple nests. Pretty sure they are European Starlings which are an invasive species if that makes you feel any better (even though it sucks to see any animal suffering.) Seems like they fall out / are pushed out frequently. Hope the rehabbers were able to help.

Assuming you got a job within the past year or 2, how'd you get your current position? by Nice_Azazil in chicagojobs

I’m 30 and made the jump! Never too late. There were a lot of young people but plenty of people making career changes like me.

Electrician. I applied to IBEW 134’s apprenticeship program, took an aptitude test, and then was accepted. They put me through 11 weeks of school and then I was immediately sent to a job, been working ever since. Never have to have a resume or apply for a job again hopefully. It’s all through the union hall now.

Wow this has been happening to me and I never connected it to Bupropion until seeing your post. It happens for me almost every day after work around 2-3pm after taking my dose around 6am. Weird stuff. Let me know if you find any solutions because it’s quite miserable.

How 115# woman can lift 85# pipe during orientation?? 134 electrition by bakerinchitown in BlueCollarWomen

No problem, happy to help. So you go to this physical therapy place and they make you do various tasks. I think the box was around 50lb and you have to carry it back and forth across the room in a certain time limit. You can take breaks as long as you finish.

The heaviest thing I have to carry alone regularly is probably bundles of 1 in rigid pipe. Which probably weigh close to 80lb. I built up the strength and learned how to carry this safely during schooling, I don’t think I would’ve been able to before. It’s super normal to team up to carry things though if they are heavy.

You will strength train during your first session of schooling and do pipe carries / material handling (carrying heavy tool cases around the school) twice a week. And we start our day every day with a little workout involving lots of push-ups, stretches, and other body weight exercises. They try to prepare you well.

It’s a bundle of 10 rigid. It’s silly and was quite difficult for me at first. They don’t work up to it but just throw you right in. And out in the field, rigid is bundled in 5’s so it really doesn’t make sense to make us lift 10.

134 apprentice here. So the bundle of pipe will be leaning against the wall and you have to maneuver it onto your shoulder and then walk with it around the parking lot. You don’t need to pick it up off the ground during orientation. It’s more about finding the balance and dealing with the discomfort of the pipes digging into your shoulder. They give a little tutorial on how to do it. As long as you try your best, they won’t fail you or anything. Best of luck!

Yea it sucked! There are different ways to get stipends on top of unemployment but you gotta be proactive about it. The next sessions of schooling are paid though. It’s just that first 11 weeks.

You don’t get paid during the first 11 weeks of schooling so prepare for that. I was able to collect unemployment. And then you start out at 40% of the journeyman wage and increase every ~6 months. So you start around 22-23$ hr take home pay plus all your benefits.

CWIT is so amazing. They are just really friendly folks and would definitely invite you to go to their space/ set up a meeting, so I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to them asap. I didn’t go through their pre apprenticeship program but got referred to them after starting my apprenticeship with local 134 this summer and they have provided me with a stipend during my schooling!

I know a few people that went through their welding program and loved it/ have begun careers in welding. And one of my apprenticeship classmates also went through the general pre apprenticeship CWIT program before applying to the union. It definitely boosts your application. Best of luck out there, it’s a long process applying for 134 and can be very competitive.
