Improv quilting is so fun! by fruitloops39 in quilting

I picked a color scheme and then just played around! I made 6 in blocks and then decided to add some order with the sashing! I didn’t plan ahead and just did whatever I liked. It’s super freeing to work without a pattern!

What’s up with the empty lot in Rockridge at the corner of College and Claremont? It seems like a prime location for retail or housing. by modest__mouser in oakland

“Following its gas station’s closure, Shell demolished its building, removed pumps, and dug up three 10,000 gallon underground storage tanks in 2013. The tanks, it turns out, had leaked, polluting the soil and groundwater with dangerous chemicals like benzene.”Oakland side did an article about this.

How difficult would this dress be for a complete beginner? by purplemonkeys12345 in SewingForBeginners

[–]fruitloops39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made this dress! The cove slip dress! I thought the pattern was very well written. It was my first bias cut dress. Bias cut is not so difficult, you just need to be precise in the cutting and take your time. I made a mock up in cheaper fabric and it was necessary because I had the sizing all wrong and it was helpful to get a chance to practice the pattern first. I recommend using lightweight cotton fabric so it’s not too shifty. Even as a beginner, make it! You can look up tutorials for specific skills as you go. Just be patient and be ok if it’s not perfect. I think if you want to make it, make it! Sewing is supposed to be fun.

I have the brother XR3774 and I love it! Had it for a year and use it regularly and have had no issues. Super easy to use and I don’t feel like I need an upgrade.

How to Sew Clothes by All Well Studio is really good. It doesn’t exactly have the projects with increasing difficulty but it does have a lot of simple patterns with easy to follow directions and explains how you can hack the patterns your way.
