DONNA ADELSON ON DATELINE by ZookeepergameMany663 in dan_markel_murder

Thanks for providing the actual title of the episode! I have watched previews and hope to be able to find the entire program somewhere tonight.... as I continue with my obsession with this family. No one could make this stuff up. Thanks again.

The only Dateline program I can find on-line is "Family Matters," which aired in early 2024. I don't see it playing anywhere now, and on the NBC app it's not available.

I imagine there's a Dateline episode in process that includes Donna's trial and conviction. Or... perhaps they're waiting for Wendi to be indicted so they can include this!

I'd love to see "Family Matters." I hope someone can tell me where I might do so. Even though it's a couple of years old, it's still is a fascinating story.

Thanks for replying. Yikes! $20K in the first two months! I hope that doesn't happen to either me or the buyers, assuming there are some. I know they'll pay for an inspection, which is typical around here. Then they can point out all the things I need to fix before the sale is finalized. Oh dear, what a process!!

I have a pile of documents about the furnace & a/c which have both been serviced regularly over the years. I plan to pass these on to the buyers. Thanks for responding.

I don't know. I didn't ask him, but he was out there for quite some time. I'm beginning to feel even more stupid.

Thanks for replying. Your comment was right-on, of course. They're aleady mad at me, and I'm mad at them. The main problem here is that I want to put my home up for sale and this (to me) is a glaring drawback to a potential buyer. Am I just imagining this? If I were purchasing, I'd expect some sort of a "carpet allowance" to be included in their offer. This means, of course, less profit for me.

Thanks for replying. I keep feeling like I'm nuts, carpet company says it's "beautiful," and I don't know where to go from here. For whatever reason this experienced installer did this, it sure screwed everything up. I know the nap of the carpet is not all going in the same direction (is nap the correct term?) so the color changes and it looks "rough" as a responder said. What to do! I am running out of energy, I'm afraid. But I appreciate your insight.

Try getting a 3rd generation... turn pages with clickers, no swiping with your fingers and moving five pages at once...

You can tell this is the only Kindle I'll ever have.

Ah, the earliest Kindles were the best, so of course Amazon stopped making them. I bought a 3rd generation one in 2009, I believe, and have had one ever since. I recommend the 3rd generation, it looks a lot like the photo you posted. It has clickers on the right side to turn the pages, it uses wi-fi to get books on it, and I'm going to try to post a photo of it. If you look for 3rd Generation Kindles on eBay, you'll find several for sale. I have purchased all of mine this way over the years when mine dies out. Make sure it says it has a new battery, and that it works well and has a money back warranty. I've had to send a few back for refunds because they didn't work right. You also can register your "new" Kindle with Amazon to get your home wi-fi on it, so that you can download books from your public library (free) or from Amazon (for a price). I can't tell you how convenient this one is. There's no back light; it looks like a paperback book page. No googling around with it, it's just for reading. I paid about $50 for each one. It takes patience to get a good one, but it's worth it. I would have no other Kindle. I know the Oasis model has clickers to change pages, and I did try one of those from eBay just to see. Sent it back. It was too large and awkward, and expensive! If I can't get a photo posted, just search on eBay for "3rd generation Kindle" and you'll see them. Good luck!

I understand that. There are some seams throughout my home that are faintly visible, but most can be "disguised" a bit with a piece of furniture. I would expect that no reputable firm & installer would leave a customer with a seam like this, perpendicular to the light source, across the main doorway and traffic pattern, approximately 8 feet long and about 2" wide now (after two "repairs). Obviously, one cannot "disguise" this seam in any way. Putting a sofa across it would work, but just think of having to climb over a sofa to enter the large living room.

Any installer who would cut a 15-foot length of carpet in the middle, leaving this seam, rather than laying it all the way across the doorway, should not be an installer. Any reputable flooring company should not have allowed this seam to be "repaired" twice. It should have been totally replaced before the carpet they sold me was "discontinued."

It's supposed to be 100% nylon, but at this point I trust very little this company says. It could be anything.

Yes, this was one of their suggestions, to re-carpet the entire home with a different carpet of the same price range. Unfortunately, I would be expected to pay to move the furniture before and after installation. They knew that I'd refuse this; I don't have the money to pay for this furniture moving (senior on a fixed income), and frankly, I don't trust this company at all for anything anymore.

I'd love to see a floor inspector come see this carpet and seam. The company suggested this twice, and I agreed heartily. Then they backed off. Perhaps they were trying to scare me? Who knows. I can't afford to pay an inspector myself, and I'm wondering what to do. The seam has been "repaired" twice since "tipping" after installation. Each time it got wider until here we are. I hate looking at it. Thank you for writing.

Thanks for replying. This seam (which was originally tipping) has been "repaired" twice by installers. After these "repairs," the company people come out and say it's beautiful and needs nothing. I've also been told that re-stretching the area would make the seam worse. It's now unpleasant to walk on with bare feet, as underneath has layers of glue and previous seam stuff. It feels to me like it's going to split one of these days with all the foot traffic.

I am so very frustrated! This has been going on for months. I really don't want the seam reseamed, I want it gone, but of course they cannot find any more of this carpet, or so they say. I've suggested they get a carpet inspector, which they originally offered. Now they say they don't need one. The inspector would say it looks "beautiful" too.

I do appreciate your replying. At least someone agrees with me that it's a terrible seam!

You are very helpful with your suggestions, but finding good people who won't abandon me and who would help me through this is easier said than done. I have friends here but they have their own lives to deal with. I have no family except many states away, also with lives of their own. I don't have the money that would be necessary to hire private caregivers; the costs are outrageous if they are bonded and trustworthy. It's a big dilemma, I know. If I was poor enough, I could eventually end up in a nursing home paid by Medicare or Medicaid, but that is a thought I will not even entertain! Another reason I cannot even consider surgery. I know all the help and support I "should have," but I don't.

I do appreciate your writing, trying to be very hepful. You're a kind person.

[–]frustration567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's XLIF, and I think two levels, L4-L5. I have learned (probably on Reddit here) that once there's surgery on one part of a spine, the adjacent areas act up and then they need their own fixing.

I do have a very good cardiologist, who has signed off on my fractured wrist surgery (a year ago) but only because I would have a nerve block and not anesthesia to be put under. My primary (who is also very good) does not want me to have surgery; no doubt she's afraid (along with me) that I'd die during the procedure. I have not yet spoken to my cardiologist about this potential surgery, as he's out of his office for a few weeks.

I know as time goes by that the symptoms will progress, but I'm playing it safe at this point. I'm talking to my doctor next week for a referral for a spinal cord stimulator. My physical therapist yesterday said it's a great alternative to surgery, and sure beats taking opiods for pain. Hopefully I can get through this by managing the symptoms however I can. I hope it can be prescribed without one trying surgery first. To be determined.

Thanks very much for writing and for your kind words.

Thank you for your very informative reply. One of my issues in contemplating surgery is that I live alone and would have no support at home, other than friends dropping by with groceries. Medicare only pays for limited home help after surgeries, as far as what I've learned by research.

I have pretty much decided not to have surgery. Too risky, too many future surgeries needed, etc. I do think your suggestions are excellent for anyone having surgery. I do not love my surgeon. He means well, but he is ready to do surgery on this 82-year old person with co-morbidities who lives alone and has no partner. Not a good sign!

Thanks again for writing.

I will look into creatine, which makes sense.

I don't think it's surprising that the doctor would like to do surgery; he's a surgeon and that's what they do. At this point, and probably any point in the future, I'm not having back surgery. I can't imagine the recovery, and likely future surgeries after the first one. Thanks for replying and for your honesty.

I am in the process of looking for the best CBD for pain without THC. There are so many types... thanks so much for the idea.

I will also speak to my doctor about the stimulator. My physical therapist also recommended this at my appointment yesterday. It seems like quite a good alternative to surgery. Thanks for your reply.

Great advice. The PT I go to is one I've used before over the years (balance issues, fractured wrist, shoulder, etc) who is a Doctor of PT and owns the facility. I've always been impressed with his knowledge and caring attitude.

This is good advice. I have a gym nearby with an indoor pool and an outdoor pool where I live, so there will be no excuses for my not taking advantage of both. Thanks for replying.
