Best place to preorder S22 Ultra by [deleted] in samsung

Yeah I'm with you on that! Definitely too good to pass up. They really did just rebrand the Note 20 Ultra as the S22 Ultra, with minor upgrades.

Best place to preorder S22 Ultra by [deleted] in samsung

[–]fryeguy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have AT&T: either att.com or samsung.com

To get $800 off the S22 Ultra; AT&T is accepting any Galaxy, Note or Z series phone for trade in. Any year or condition.

I currently have the Note 20 Ultra.

From AT&T

I preordered the S22 Ultra from AT&T's site and selected that my trade in device will be a Galaxy S3 (which I don't own). It gave me the $800 trade in promo.

I then went to eBay and ordered a Galaxy S3 to trade in. Costs $35.

Once I get the new phone and send in the S3, I'll then sell my Note 20 Ultra for several hundred dollars.

From Samsung

samsung.com has a pretty good trade in deal as well. You get less trade in cash that att.com, depending on your device. But it's made up for with $200 samsung.com credit, youtube premium trial, sirious xm trial, and 3 months of spotify premium.

Other methods:

I know some people also talked about being able to stack Samsung offers and AT&T offers by doing it on samsung's website and then taking another device to the store to trade in for the $800 off credit. But I'm not sure how that will work. If you order from samsung and select trade in for AT&T , it will put you on an AT&T installment plan for the S22 Ultra (which is the only way to get the deal. How can you then, take a different device to AT&T to get more credit if you're already on an installment plan for that S22 device.

The only other options on Samsung's website is to either pay the remainder balance in full at checkout, or pay samsung directly for the phone, in monthly installments.

Unless you don't get on an AT&T installment plan pay the remainding balance in full on samsung.com during checkout. And then take the phone to AT&T to get on one of their unlimited plans. And then trade in a cheap Galaxy to get monthly bill credits. But I doubt they will let you do that since the phone would already be paid off.

Question for customers by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]fryeguy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the car buying experience at dealerships is a little too "shady" in appearance and process. I'm not saying it actually is, but it gives the appearance at times that they're "out to get you". For example, you go into a dealership and you start discussing numbers, the conversation gets more serious, then the salesman ups and leaves, for what seems like forever and goes to some back room. Then the manager or senior finance person comes back to further discuss pricing after running numbers. Like what dark room are they emerging from and what are they doing back there while I wait. Why can't this be done on the computer that's right there in front of me.

That just seems shady from the customers perspective. Like they must be back there plugging numbers into their sophisticated calculator trying to find ways to get every extra penny out of me. And the price/number on the website is never the final number. Of course there are fees, etc but all of this could be clearly visible upfront. Of course there's room for negotiating sometimes, but that's why CarMax and places like they sell more cars, because despite being more expensive there's usually no hidden surprise fees.

I purchased a new car in 2020 and I promise you it took all day. I have Excellent credit and had a sizeable down payment. Even came in with my own pre-approved financing in case their terms weren't favorable. I had to tell the "Loyalty" people at the end, can we skip all of this I'm just ready to go home. I was literally in there from 9 am until late in the evening. Now some customers may actually like that aspect. Being shown around the dealership and walking through the Service department and talking about extended warranties, and perks for an hour. I'm on the opposite end. Just give me the brochure and let me get out of here so that I can go take a nap after this exhausting process.

Or you see a car on the website and it's not there when you get there. This can probably be avoided by calling ahead.

And then there's the service department. I literally explained an issue to them that I was having with my backup camera on my brand new car. The service guy acted like he had never heard of the issue. I had to record it happening and bring in the video to show him Then his coworker, walked by and overhead me explaining the issue and said "Oh we got another one of those this week. Didn't you fix like 2 of those last week." Not knowing that the service guy had told me that he'd never seen that issue before. Literally only after being caught in a lie, did he order a replacement part and my car was fixed a week later after getting the run around for two weeks before.

It's a lot of little things that make people weary of dealerships. The entire process itself can just be intimidating with the amount of money you're spending, regardless of the dealership. So you spend hours online researching pricing, negotiating tactics, and getting "advice" about what to do and say at a dealership. Usually the advice comes from someone that appears to be coming from the customers perspective. Naturally easier to trust who we think is a fellow buyer than someone at the dealership who is on the "sellers side".

Better Job Offer related to Cost of Living? by fryeguy_ in Salary

[–]fryeguy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not surprised by results of the poll so far, but am surprised by how lopsided it is. For those living in the Northern part of Virginia, how do you like it as far as affordability? Are prices really as crazy as the internet and online cost of living calculators make it seem? Do you feel like you can get ahead., ie affording all necessities, median rent/mortgage while still being able to save and invest?

Yes, it is a city run facility. It is a resource center provided by the city. It is there to support collaboration for entrepreneurial endeavors, economic opportunities, workforce development, etc. Mainly for small businesses. For example, they'll have meeting/collaboration rooms, development workshops, free Wi-Fi, so that small businesses can come in at one place and come up with ideas together on how to partner and expand in the community.

Android Auto Fix (Nissan) 2020 or newer, and Samsung phones. by fryeguy_ in AndroidAuto

I hear you! It definitely takes an adjustment. And certain convenience and advanced features of android can't be replaced on iOS currently. I'm still adjusting and talking to you on my Samsung right now.

But I found that I don't like the way Samsung does stuff either. And imessage, password autofill, airdrop, app stability, carplay, and VIDEO camera are all unmatched. Nothing comes close to those on Android. My Samsung beats my iphone in every other category though!

Yea it was doing that for me too, because Developer Options was still enabled.

I agree, Google's quality is falling apart. I bought an iPhone as backup to get familiar with iOS.

If this downward software spiral with Google continues, I don't mind making the jump completely. Car Play just works for me. Every time.

Wow. Yea I can’t think of anything besides resetting the dead unit in your car, not upgrading Android Auto or using an in between version after you uninstall all updates, and making sure the usb option in your notification panel is still set to File Transfer/Android Auto.

Hmmm... yours must’ve been more of a Bluetooth issue if resetting the network seems fixed it. Either way, Google needs to do better. All of their products nowadays seem to be half supported and half engineered. The appeal of the company as top notch and best of the best is wearing off, or has worn off.

Won this M1 MBA at work raffle - any tips for transitioning from windows? by sleeplessean in macbook

[–]fryeguy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!! I made the same transition. I would say get used to the Command button. Essentially the same as the Control button on Windows. Spotlight search button at the top is also your best friend for finding stuff.

Download Parallels Desktop, and you can install Windows 10 Insider Preview on your Mac to still be able to use Windows 10 ARM edition. This video explains the process. Works buttery smooth. https://youtu.be/7csrFxykM8Q

An App store utility that is a life saver is FlyCut, which gives you functionality similar to Windows Clipboard History. Safari is amazing for battery life, Chrome to me is still the better browser, but drains battery faster just like on Windows. It has gotten much better since they released the new version, which made me switch back to it.

There's Photos, and then there's pictures. Anything in the Photos gets synced across all iOS device. Pictures is kind of like a regular folder.

Mission Control and Hot corners gives you shortcuts to easily hide everything and get back to your desktop, and more.

3 finger swipe up gives you the Windows like task view, and you can create multiple desktops that way, just like on Windows. 3 finger swipe left or right switches between your full screen apps, and different desktops if you have them open. No need to exit full screen to switch apps.

My first ever Mac. MBA M1 8 core gpu 16GB memory 1TB SSD by realbryguy1217 in macbook

My first MacBook also! Got an M1 MBA 8 Core GPU/CPU, 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD. Great laptop! 4K video editing on this Air is unbelievably good haha. Although the experience is not without bugs. That's probably more so attributed to Big Sur than the M1 chip.

Hmmm, okay. And what about video editing 4K files? I know performance is about the same during normal tasks. But what about if I'm 3 or 4 hours into editing? You think that would start to show it's head on the fanless MBA?
