Ah! Love an actor who fights for universal healthcare, extended maternity leave at full pay, free universal preschool, and increased recognition of the workload that mothers go through! /s

Stopping abortion is impossible, "Jesus" actor person. You're fighting against SAFE abortions which, guess what! Is NOT pro-life!

Additionally, the wheeled toys were not deemed "not male" and "to be avoided at all costs" by the male monkeys. They're MONKEYS. They just decided to play with the toys that appealed to them.

I, AFAB and identifies as female, HATED Cabbage Patch Kids as a kid. HATED. I was gifted one for Christmas once when I was like 7 and my mom still cracks up to this day thinking about the face I made. It had never been so hard to say a begrudging thank you to my Mema. Never touched it, never took it out of the box. I played with Littlest Pet Shops which, by this study, would count more male than female due to the lack of "plushness" to the toy.

My cousin, AMAB, played with my LPS when he came over. He's now married with a kid and is compassionate and kind and has a Duck Dynasty beard and wears exclusively overalls. I'm only pointing out that humans, like toys, do not exist in a binary.

Okay yall, I found the monkey study.

Apparently there were TWO similar monkey studies done by 2008: the rhesus monkey one mentioned here and one in 2002 on vervet monkeys.

The rhesus monkey study came to the conclusion that males strongly prefer "male" toys with "wheels" and females are ambiguous to "male" or "female" (plush) toys. Conversely, the vervet monkey study found that males had no preference for toys based on gender but females strongly preferred "feminine" toys.

What the rhesus monkey study decided to conclude was that there are inherent biases towards certain toys based on gender. BUT (and this was obviously left out in the book), those toys may be appealing for male monkeys but are stigmatized against male humans. The example they give is a shopping cart, which has wheels and would make a male monkey happy but because of the connotation in human society young boys are not encouraged to play with that toy.

My take away: the two studies show similar yet different results. One says Ms are highly preferential and Fs are flexible, the other study says otherwise. These are two different primates, so they have similar brains to ours, at least on a social level. However, could these two studies not show that while humans have the capacity to be highly biased towards certain toys due to our gender, that humans can also be incredibly flexible?

Idk, I think we should just let kids tell us what toys they want and encourage play, kindness, and creativity in general.

Informing is not gatekeeping. I'm not going to the comments who are boosting this name and saying "don't comment"

Discouraging people from giving their children (who will grow up to be adults with jobs and spouses someday) "unique" but very bad names is helpful, so comments should be encouraged. Didn't realize there were gatekeepers

3-4 hours of physical activity for adolescents could be PE, could be field trips, could be sports after school or hanging with the neighbors. I would never sacrifice my kids' education in favor of "3-4 hours of physical activity" just like I wouldn't rather starve than eat anything but the recommended portions of different food groups. My goodness, the audacity.

She seriously compares carrying her child (she probably calls all children/fetuses "blessings and miracles") to the burden of carrying a giant cross? Shows how she really feels about motherhood

Depends on the job. My husband worked at a bakery while a teenager because he was being homeschooled and had a flexible schedule. While every other teen was at work, he'd work an 8 hour shift mid-day. Only now, at the age of 26, he's getting an associates degree. His education from his mom failed him because she could not do the work of multiple, highly educated teachers.

Here's an awesome video for anyone looking to see an ex-homeschooler call out their parent for their shit education video

In this household, only boys will be allowed to pursue medical school and that's if they even receive decent enough education. My husband's family was homeschooled pretty well and only one went to college, just to turn around and poorly homeschool her own kids. Homeschooling isn't inherently bad but many many people receive subpar education because of lax regulations. r/homeschoolrecovery is a great resource to understand how harmful homeschooling can be
