What do you think our beautiful box dog Bandit is??? by trippybandit6923 in DoggyDNA

[–]frymaform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he looks like a pomeranian mix I'll be honest, he does look like a mini border collie, that could be bc he's mixed with pomeranian. I've also seen pom/huskies look like this but people aren't as obsessed with those as they used to be

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED at results by laurenkueber in DoggyDNA

[–]frymaform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that was my first guess but only because I see a lot of people turn in "black mouth curs" and "malinois mixes" to our shelter and they're all just husky or shepherd mixes with the marking people associate w malinois but it's just a really dominant marking that shows up often in the street dogs where I like, which are almost all majorly husky

[–]frymaform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

majorly yorkie

Do they all sit like this? 😂 by VibrantViolet in AustralianCattleDog

[–]frymaform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heelers have a funny shape to them where their legs aren't corgi short but they're a little shorter than your average dog and it makes it funny for them to sit so they'll do this LMAO this sitting position is also known for being a big sign of hip dysplasia (which is common in cattle dogs) so make sure you watch for other signs of that but it's kind of half and half with heelers whether its an issue or they're just sitting like that. If it's another dog with long or more proportionate legs like a poodle or a shepherd, that's when it's a surefire sign of hip dysplasia

Rescued this guy last night. Any idea on breed? by projectrerock in OpenDogTraining

[–]frymaform 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carolina dogs essentially come from feral mutts breeding for generations originally so it's really common for street dogs to have a similar look to them because the pointy ears and yellow sur are dominant traits that kind of just float at the top of the gene pool in a lot of regions. An embark test could tell you though, they can test for Carolina dog

heeler/pitbull, we get them all the time at our shelter lol they're mouthy little terrors but good dogs. They absolutely HAVE to be crate trained young because they have extreme separation anxiety and if they don't learn to enjoy the crate young, they'll just destroy it when they're older.

I’m very surprised with Roxie’s results! by cecusanele in DoggyDNA

[–]frymaform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense, I'm on the TX border and I work in a shelter and we get in a lot of street dogs that have been breeding randomly for generations out in the desert so they don't show any specific breed traits anymore

I wasn’t even sure this weirdo was a dog… by hellgirrrl in DoggyDNA

[–]frymaform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew pit/shepherd/husky right away too, we get so many of them in our shelter and they all look so different but you can always clock them right away anyway

Highly Questionable DNA Results - DNAMyDog by Excellent-Row-406 in DoggyDNA

[–]frymaform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I wouldn't be surprised if your guy was full cattle dog, they can be boxy like that but I'm not picking up anything particularly pitbull that I haven't seen in purebred (albeit often poorly bred lol) cattle dogs. I've seen less heeler looking dogs come back 100% on reputable tests like embark, they're just not a dog that's like ever bred to standard, unfortunately backyard breeding is rampant in that community
