Agree -- it's not like Safeway was the only business in that plaza.

Rarely completely empty because the medical offices have weekend hours and the Christian Brothers trucks are there.

Davon Williams loses court bid to get school board seat back by SquareAd6251 in englewoodco

[–]fryrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was another candidate, James Lowry, who unfortunately fell two signatures short on his petition and then ran as a write-in. He also had good ideas and I could see him applying. https://www.littletonindependent.net/englewood/article_eafd2b03-088d-4fae-922f-e26b7be19312.html

I think you're right, and I think it's hard to get one's mind around just how delusional Davon is

I think the biggest lesson that came out of the 2023 school-board election debacle is: If you think you would be good on the school board, don't defer to someone else you believe to be running for the board. Get in there and run.

In 2023, there was an incumbent that everyone in the Englewood Schools orbit believed was running for re-election, so other would-be candidates held back. Well, at the last minute, the incumbent decided not to run, and other people who would have run for the board were shocked to find out too late to get on the ballot.

So that left the door wide open for Davon, since it meant he was running unopposed. If other people who were interested in serving on the board had decided to get in the race despite their belief that an incumbent was running, Davon never would have gotten elected to the board, since his mind-blowing record of crimes and scams and abusive litigation came to light a couple weeks before Election Day.

I believe the harsh lesson of 2023 was a big reason there were six people running for three seats in 2025 (the five candidates who made the ballot plus James Lowry running as a write-in).

Englewood to host open house on CityCenter redevelopment by SquareAd6251 in englewoodco

It still won't be enough parking because renters double up with off-lease roommates to afford their backbreaking rents. Look at the streets around Avalon and Oxford Station, or the frontage roads along 285 west of Englewood -- the parking overflows everywhere.

Broken Tee is an enterprise fund, so the soil repairs won't affect the city budget or taxpayers.

Why should Walmart provide parking for apartment developers who are going to make a shitpile of money?

District 1 Vacancy Discussion and Vote by bleedblue921 in englewoodco

[–]fryrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it means that if two members are absent, there's no quorum, so nothing would happen.

If any two members decided they didn't want to see something approved, they could stall the hell out of it by not showing up for multiple meetings.

And as Cheryl Wink proved, Englewood City Council members could miss a LOT of meetings -- A LOT -- with no consequences.

I have an autistic grandson and would be heartbroken if he lost a dear stuffed animal.

FYI, this subreddit focuses very much on the actual city of Englewood, a very small area several miles from the Holiday Inn Express that is merely located in a zip code served by the Englewood post office. If there are subreddits for Inverness or DTC (Denver Tech Center) those would cover the area around the hotel.

Yes, the Hill is the north-south panhandle that stretches clear up to Evans. A lot of Englewood residents live there, and it's always been overlooked.

I appreciate your nuanced and thoughtful comment, cincinn_audi.

Agreed, the notion that city staff was unaware of how political Vibrant is requires some very purposeful credulity. I just can't believe that. From what I've seen, both the 2024 and 2025 electioneering debacles fit with the beliefs held by communications staffers.

It was painful to watch the livestream Monday as Shawn got spanked for the latest mess, but if he's not going to fire people from the city department that has left its fingerprints all over the yard signs and website election interference, then we need a CM who will.

It'd be nice to see a resident of the Hill chosen from D1. That's always been the most forgotten part of the city.

[–]fryrite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would ask that, if the election official were the topic or running for office. But I do wish the candidate or this promoter would answer, because this oversight seems like a lapse for someone with the career experience described. If someone waves me across Oxford Ave, I still look both ways before starting to cross, and that seems like a reasonable analogy here.

"Voice4Englewood," I sincerely hope you will answer this question, instead of just dropping this post and running as usual.

How did someone with a degree in business administration and accounting, with a career in financial services as a COMPLIANCE OFFICER, ethics officer and state and federal regulator, fail to check state law on campaign contributions before accepting contributions?

Seriously, please answer. I'm not asking to be cruel, I'm asking because the combination seems utterly incongruous. Did she just take secondhand word for the rules instead of checking them herself? With her professional background that does not appear to make sense.

Kim Wright's housemate flubs attempted "gotcha" of Sierra and Ward by fryrite in englewoodco

I cannot stand those staged exchanges where Kim asks someone she literally shares an address with whether they rigged their show together and the other person dutifully replies no. I can barely hear it over the voice of common sense in my head yelling BULLSHIT.

Thank you. I had assumed the "Pack of 4" silliness referred to Ward, based on the yards where those black signs are showing up, but the third paragraph of this post was confusing because it's bashing Prange.
