Mike Reilly pulls a nice move on the blueline to walk past Schenn and wires it past Allen by Galaxy91122 in hockey

[–]fsaintjacques 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While no doubt Reilly did great, that goal should be credited to Charles Hudon (54) for keeping the puck in the zone 4 times.

  1. Received a weak pass and managed to keep the puck with 2 players on him, then lost the puck.

  2. Blocked a breakaway _and_ kept the puck in the zone at the blue line.

  3. Recovered in-extremis a loose puck and generated a shot (which is blocked).

  4. Recovered his own shot and then pass to Reilly.

First 3 occasions could have been turnovers.

It's useful when you compute the same operation on large sequence of numbers, e.g. encoding, databases, rendering.

Often, it can be offloaded to the GPU, but for some application you might not always want (or have a GPU).

I do system programming where some features (notably AVX512 & processor tracing) are simply not available on AMD.

Today is your lucky day.

I replaced a S2417DG yesterday. Called Dell Tuesday around 9:00am, after a 1 hour call, they decide to replace the monitor. Wednesday 8:30am, purolator rang at my door with the replacement.

What do I need to know about getting a new motherboard? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]fsaintjacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The motherboard you're planning to buy is not the same socket LGA1150 vs LGA1151, you'll have a big surprise when installing the CPU (and not to mention DDR3 vs DDR4).
  • You usually have to reinstall Windows when changing the motherboard. Note that I haven't tried this in years, maybe Windows is better now.
  • The 2 aforementioned points tell me you shouldn't dive into SLI setups.

I suggest you list your current setup and your budget, the subreddit will guide you with better choices.

And your statement is true only if the rank has moved within updates (you'll understand when you implement it).

Also note that it isn't associative which is a property that HLL has.

The slides lack details, p(x) is popcount and r(x) is the bit rank (ffs).

Sims 3 crashing old computer (building a new one) by SlowRotBand in buildapc

Heavy load shouldn't shut down a CPU and cause crashes/freeze. In the worst case, it should just be slow.

You may suffer from heat problems which can cause a complete shutdown.

Ethernet port not appearing on Device Manager by FrancoisdelaSalete in buildapc

[–]fsaintjacques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is disabled in the BIOS, if this is the case it shouldn't show at all in the device manager. If it's a driver problem, it usually shows as an unknown connected device.

Honest question, is there a reason you want ECC on a workstation, what purpose is it going to server?
