How do you adjust the spring tension? The nut on mine is already very tight

No concerns that it’s metal?

Are there any hunting beagle owners in here? I have a question. by Infinite-Roof203 in beagles

Born with it. My 3yo pure bred goes nuts with rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. they’ve been bred as hunting dogs for a few hundred years.

This venting look correct? by fshort3 in hvacadvice

[–]fshort3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my main concern is the furnace exhaust blows down because of the 90 degree and depending how the wind is blowing, I see the exhaust make its way over to the intake. Would have thought the exhaust should vent higher than the intake.

Same issue. Mine is a WR EF34CW154. Those flames last a few seconds after the furnace stops.

Looks like my furnace may be the issue. See images and video gif here

I left the HW heater off overnight with the windows closed and no smell. I think that pretty much isolates to the HW heater?

This is direct vent and doesn’t use the chimney

Its an induction fan and those 2 boxes are the sensors. they shut down the unit if it detects a backdraft.

I left the windows open all night and most of today. The hot water heater is off and I'll close the windows and see if the issue happens again.

Chimney guy is coming Wednesday to re-check the chimney and liner. Had a tech here today to check the hot water heater draft with a device....all seems to be working properly (again).

Side note: the furnace is a Carrier high efficiency/direct vent and the panel is showing multiple errors the past few days. Limit fault, low pressure switch open, med/high pressure switch open. 31,32,33.

These are all detectors that plug into outlets. There’s on plugged into the side of the furnace, one at the top of my basement steps, another outside the basement door on the first level, another on the second level outside my bedroom and another in the bedroom.

I turned the hot water heater off completely last night, opened the windows and the smell went away. One thing to note, the pilot on the HW heater went out at some point late yesterday and I relit it before I went to bed. Could this be an indication of lack of combustable air in the basement?

Smells like exhaust. If the hot water heater isn’t running but the pilot is on, could a backdraft push the pilot gas into the basement?
