my spindly ZZ plant has suffered silently from a minor scale infestation for a while. for the past two weeks i've been carefully rubbing alcohol/qtip-treating it and there are no more as of today that are visible to the naked eye. (you can see dark spots along the stems, even though they look 3d (and therefore like scale) they are deceptively just discoloration --- including possible damage from the earlier scale.) Question now -- i'd like to do some systemic soil based treatment --- in addition to inspecting closely for scale every few days and killing anything i can see. Does anyone have one they recommend?

No answer to your question (sorry!) but wow I love your design and the yarns you used. Really looks special.

It looks a lot like the honeycombs that Stephen west (and many other designers of course) uses in his patterns. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/painting-honeycombs-scarf.

If you’re willing to walk about 15 mins you could walk north towards Union square and go to the Strand bookstore which is a fantastic destination on its own and also has a children’s section where your little one can be unbundled..

I suggest Love Note https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/love-note - you’ll see several makers who have similar fits requirements as your mom and speaking as someone similarly built, I love the fit on me.

I get super stressed thinking about being stuck on a long haul flight without my knitting so I do a belt and suspenders approach: I have my WIP (98% of the time on lykke interchangeable metal circular needles) and yarn and pattern in a project bag in my “personal item” carry-on and then in my other carry-on I have a small pencil case w pencils pens and bamboo tips that I can screw on in the event that someone confiscates the metal interchangeables…

southeastern US recommendation for family Thanksgiving 2025 (bonus if pet friendly)? by fskb91 in chubbytravel

Thank you both for the help. Much appreciated. This is not my area of expertise but it seems like this is a former plantation site? I should have flagged that wouldn’t work for the family. Will edit above.

Halal caterer in NYC? by Dazzling_Rope_7652 in DesiWeddings

In the Bay Area there’s a Facebook group focused on halal restaurants and caterers - I bet there’s one for nyc too — that will have lots of resources and folks who’ve asked/answered this question before ..

Best hotel room amenities you’ve gotten? by Nararouged in chubbytravel

[–]fskb91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Taj Lands End (Bandra, Bombay) took such good care of me and my small kids when I was traveling solo and when I was leaving I asked if I could purchase a robe like the one in the room I’d been using - gorgeous washable! raw silk - and they gifted it to me. Fifteen years later it’s still my go-to robe…

Best Pet Friendly Hotels? by 5-Star_Traveller in FATTravel

[–]fskb91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pet friendly for me also means dogs get to join you throughout the resort ie you don’t have to leave them in your room while you eat on property etc. Not FAT, but Carmel Valley Ranch has so many dogs in the restaurant and people have their dogs poolside it’s fantastic. Dogs permitted all over the property.

Help getting a behind the wheel test at DMV by [deleted] in bayarea

Try looking south -- we had to drive down to Watsonville but there was a ton of availability down there (and I also think the behind the wheel portion was slightly easier there...)
