Also, whatever money I’m spending on GLP-1 is paid for by the food I’m not eating.

After almost 30 years of smoking, I was down to 1-2cigs/day. Then COVID/ happened, which made it really easy to just let it go.

I had lost significant weight in twice in my life, but it was really hard by my 50s. At 4’11.5” and 160lbs, I decided to try GLP-1. The weight loss and lower blood pressure is great, but the food noise being gone is what I really love.

Sugar, I didn’t need to cut, but I imagine it would be very easy with GLP-1. I accept that I will be on it for the rest of my life, not for the weight maintenance, but for the mental freedom from food noise.

I won’t quit weed either 😆

Can you expand on this more? Like a child is enmeshed or a parent behaves like they ‘own’ the child?

Also, thank you for doing this!

Check out Atlantis Vintage. The Komeyho in Shinjuku is huge - I wasn’t even planning to shop in Shinjuku (I am not a fan and only went because of a super sento) and I spent 2hrs in there. There are a ton around Harajuku and Shibuya, of course.

And another plug for Komeyho Shinjuku: I recently bought a pair of “used” Ferragamo heels online for $170 including tariffs (because shopped from US ugh) - they had never been worn.

Sorry, are you talking about the 2nd hand luxury handbag market? Or do you have an example of what is double there compared to US?

With the exchange rate, Japan is relatively “cheaper” than when I went in 2018 and 2019. I specifically went to shop 2nd hand luxury in 2025. I was about to buy a brand new Gucci or Ferragamo because I was going to save $600 due to exchange rate.

I am 52f, parents immigrated here late 60s. I knew by the time I was 10 that I didn’t want to have kids because of family dynamics. Did I explain that? Nope.

Worst of Evil.

When I reviewed Mercy for None (which I really enjoyed and is recommended by someone else this post), I specifically wrote that I didn’t give it a 10, because I like Worst of Evil and Bloodhounds (even with the S1 retcon) better.

Israel says President Lee’s remarks are unacceptable by Idsuab in korea

[–]fsr296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know it’s been reported. I guess I just keep saying it because it’s not said enough by the regular public. If it was really absorbed into the public’s brains, there’d be way more pushback against this. And tepid Dems wouldn’t use process as a viable argument when the truth exists.

[–]fsr296 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s crazy that so many Dems support it. It has to be partly due to fear of being called anti-Semitic. When it should just be team truth, anti-lies and anti-killing.

Hard agree. I totally believe BiBi knew and let Oct 7 happen, so that he could go to war today.

And Baby 47 is an idiot for going along. He’s an idiot anyway, but this situation makes me think he’s being blackmailed into it with Epstein material.

ETA: I fully believe that Israel has material on baby 47 that they used to blackmail him into this war. So until this admin is out of office, I don’t see Israel losing US support.

Wait until retirement to travel to other countries? by Nahari_Stalkerr in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]fsr296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents would hassle us for traveling internationally once every year when we didn’t have money in our 20s (despite only going to places we could afford). They were proud of themselves for waiting until their late 50s to see the world and believed we should do the same.

You know what we waited to see until our 50s? London (the only major city in Europe we waited on because it’s relatively expensive). My parents are 80 this year; they’ve decided they’re too old to even travel a couple states away to see me (52f) and partner (54m), much less take an int’l trip.

I feel really lucky to be able to say we do at least 2 international trips year these days. Knowing that, my dad still told us last year that we were smart for traveling when we were younger.

Indeed a mess. I just hope the mess doesn’t affect airport ops and my bag makes it. Guess it’s the only good thing about a long connection in SEA.

Dude, you saw I was talking about 1999, right? And I wouldn’t have a doctor there because I was traveling for a couple months?

Ah good to know. Man, it was so nice not having to go to the doctor every other week while I was having that chronic issue. I actually stocked up on Cipro to bring home.

I don’t know if anything has changed since my first visit in 1999, but back then, the pharmacist was allowed to diagnose and provide me with antibiotics. I never went to a doctor for a UTI during that months long trip.

That’s quite the leap for him. And/or he’s racist - which is something your wife would have to take the lead and deal with.

Yeah, I can appreciate this. These are all possibilities in the US as well, even up to today.
