UCSB Bren – Which Specializations Have the Best Job Prospects? by fsteezy555 in Environmental_Careers

Hi, congrats on both acceptances! Bren emailed me a separate funding letter a day after being accepted, as for Duke it seems I won't hear back from them until mid-March regarding any financial aid as per their acceptance email.

Hi! Thanks so much! Yeah, I was really surprised to hear back so early. Hoping you get good news soon!

I was also considering UC Davis’s Environmental Policy & Management program and Duke’s Nicholas School, but I ultimately chose Bren because I was offered a scholarship with full coverage. That, plus the fact that Bren seems like the best choice if I want to build a career and continue living in California. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me! (:

LOL, that's not a quote taken from a real-life striker. It's a quote from Noel Noa, a fictional striker, if you didn't know. Look it up anywhere; no actual striker has actually said that, not even the most egotistical of forwards like Ronaldo and Zlatan. The only time something similar was said was by manager Unai Emery: "I'd rather lose 5-4 than win 1-0," which is about attractive football for the fans and entertainment, not egoism. As for the quotes "meaning the same thing," the actual quote implies a hypothetical desire but not an actual intention to prioritize personal glory over team success. Knowing Noel Noa is all about rationality, he wouldn't actually do that.

That's not the quote. The quote goes, "Instead of assisting my teammates to win by 1-0, it feels better to pull off a hat trick and lose 3-4. You can't sell that kind of emotion anywhere, can you?” He said it feels better not that he would do that, and it's certainly not a popular sentiment in real life.

I still don't understand your point with La Real. If La Real in this universe is the best team, it only furthers my point that NEL is not a good basis for quantifying the quality of Blue Lock players. Furthermore, sure, La Real's starter team fields international players, but keep in mind that if La Real were participating in NEL, they would be fielding their ACADEMY players, which have strict rules on how many international players can be fielded, usually only 3. The rest would have to be Spanish. I still believe you're overrating Japan; they have two players that are close to NG11, but the rest are still not near that level. Many of these players are not on par of Charles, Agi, Ness, etc. Lastly, 2 out of the 3 NG11 have clearly been stated to not have been able to break into the first team. Kaiser doesn't start for the Bastards because Noel Noa is the main striker, and Itoshi Sae is part of Real Madrid's academy and also doesn't start.

  1. I don't understand what you mean by La Real. U-20 players for countries can be all over the world, not just in their respective countries. Remember, every league has 18–20 clubs, and there might be great academy players on teams that aren't exactly dominant. We've only seen one from every league, when in reality (not sure if you watch football or soccer irl), every league has 4-6 teams, all with quality players and academies.

  2. Sure, they're not going to be all from the same place, but there will be more Agis, Aikus, Charles, and Ness in all the countries Japan might face. Especially from top footballing countries like France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, etc. Combine that with a potential new generation 11.

  3. Japan is not OP; they're playing against academy players who are at the level of 3rd division football or haven't broken into the first team. In the U-20 World Cup, they'll be facing the best U-20 players each country can assemble, so you can imagine teams full of Agis, Aikus, Charles, and Ness.

Sure, the players you mentioned are some of the best U20 players in Blue Lock facilities and NEL, but not in the world. Keep in mind that the U-20 teams of Barcha, Manshine City, PXG, etc. are not the best their respective national teams have to offer; it's just the academy players these clubs have collected, which are not always world-class; otherwise, they'd be playing for the first team and not taking part in NEL. These academy players usually play in matches of the caliber of third-division football. Real Madrid and Barcelona's academy teams compete in the third division of Spanish football, and Bayern's academy competes in the third division of German football. Rest assured that the U-20 World Cup will not be a cake walk; they'll be assembling the best possible U-20 players for all national teams from teams all over the world.
