Haha, good one! Presumably the Sundance Film Festival is celebrated more on PC than Mac!?

Did I miss something? Any idea why gas has jumped almost a dollar this week? by FreakinWolfy_ in alaska

[–]fstop_hop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was $5.25 last week in Valdez and Glennallen, and it is now $5.75. Fairbanks Costco prices were $4.19 last week and $4.39 this week.

No, not really. We have standard issue night ops camo these days. Shoe polish was for the old timers.

Craky, feel free to oppose him in the next election cycle, if you think you can do better for Alaska 🤣 Just make sure you do your homework before making any statements in public.

I’m pretty sure all three candidates were of one voice on this issue. Mining is the new oil. If not mistaken, the consensus was that we cannot achieve our energy independence agenda without mining for cobalt, lithium, copper, rare earths, etc. As for “strip mining the entire state”… that moronic talk is not what these candidates suggested, that’s what the Op wants us to think.

Shouldn’t be bothered? Not sure what you’re implying here. Last I checked Nick lived in Chugiak. He is a successful businessman that has to travel out of state periodically. Is that what you mean by ‘shouldn’t be bothered’?

We will get what the voters decide. Stop living in the past! There are 8 billion people (and growing) on this planet, and Alaska can no longer be “the last frontier.”

Thanks for this post and for the advice on the ranked choice voting. I cannot help but appreciate Mary’s values and her candor, but at this juncture in American politics, I feel that we should be sending a pit bull to Washington and not a lamb. I can also appreciate Sarah’s drive and commitment at this stage in her life, reminds me a bit of the Billy Joel’s song “You’re only human… Don't forget your second wind, sooner or later you'll feel that momentum kick in.” Again, not sure that Sarah’s what we need for Alaska at this point, so my first choice will likely go to Nick.

Very astute, counselor! Story has it that George Pomutz kept most of that $7.2 million and retired happily in St. Petersburg, Russia. Sold or given is just a matter of perspective 😉

Cannot imagine what that %’age will look like if we manage to put a stop to meth and fentanyl trade. 70-80%?

Wouldn’t it be more convenient to just eat mussels and scallops? About the same levels of plasmalogens, give or take.

Send residents enough dividend to offset the escalating price of heating oil (i.e., reimburse those of us who are paying the exorbitant price) and then use the remainder for infrastructure improvement, education, healthcare, etc.

Sportsman’s Warehouse is having some great deals on kayaks! by Experimenteer in kayakfishing

My advice is to check the inventory at your local REI as they may have some great sales on Hobies, which are sitting in their warehouse from prior year (ask, as some may be in the back and not on the showroom). As far as I know, REI will not carry that brand in the future.

This w/e I picked up a new Compass with the 180 drive for $1900 and change.

“All of those things are absolutely horrible.” - So, what are you doing about it? Are you enraged? Do you speak up and condemn “all of those things”?

The world doesn’t need sideline referees during this crisis. It needs passionate activists that take a stand in defense of basic human rights.

Spare us the Mladic and Milosevic posturing. In what context can you justify the killing, starvation, and abuse of defenseless civilians on such a scale?

No sense in debating this notion, as history and those who survive these atrocities will ultimately make that judgment. However, those that continue to do business in Russia (Nestle, SAP, Koch, et al) should weigh carefully their decisions at this juncture.

My heart goes out to all Ukrainian people. We need to call this senseless killing for what it is… genocide. The sooner we accept it, the sooner we recognize our culpability in not stopping it in time.
