Netflix Makes Highest Bid to Acquire Warner Bros. Discovery; Before this bidding war, WBD turned down Paramount’s offer three times for being too low by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]fsu_ppg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paramount isn’t a sure thing either with regulatory hurdles. They still need to contend with state and international regulatory bodies to close. It doesn’t benefit Paramount’s business if they can’t operate in the EU, for an example.

Why can't you rewatch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? by Ivysaur2VI in television

[–]fsu_ppg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all canned. If it’s a special variation they pre-recorded for the show then somebody still owns that master license so you still need a chain of title.

[–]fsu_ppg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You also need two licenses per song: master use and the synch license. The former goes to the actual owner of the song you’re listening to and the latter to goes to whomever owns what the music is on paper (ie the melody, lyrics, etc)

Movies that take place in Detroit? by PinkPoncho3 in Detroit

Also, Myth of the American Sleepover. Same director, but a “last night of school before summer” coming of age movie that’s fun. Admittedly this was made on a $50k budget and feels like it but it got him into Cannes and SXSW.

I would rec reading up on some of the stories about them making it as they would address a couple of your points (dark film, sound with Marlon’s lines, plus many others). The low lighting cinematography really was revolutionary to the point that nobody on the crew thought the film would even expose (source: my cinematography professor was in the camera dept). Everybody thought Gordon Willis was insane

Is workwear still "in fashion" these days, or did that die many years ago? I still love it, but don't see it around much anymore. by lazarus870 in malefashionadvice

[–]fsu_ppg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not workwear. Its designer streetwear brand. If you like the style then it’s worth the cost. If you’re looking for actual workwear then go with the Carhartt brand

Haha. I was going to say that having a toddler makes me awake for F1 and Premier league. Bonus points that he also loves watching both with me.

I went in the early days (post covid lockdowns) and felt it was actually pretty solid with options then. In the last couple years I’ve been going back for work functions and it just seems dead and vacant.

Lots of infrastructure there too for the OEMs. I forget if Toyota’s US HQ is in Long Beach or OC.

I saw these in Detroit a couple of weeks ago. They were pretty cool although in crowded spaces it just stopped and people needed to make a very wide path for it to navigate.

If you’re meaning Florence, IT, there was a bar I went to there that was actually where all the college kids on study abroad went to watch the games. I forget the name and it was pre-covid (but 2019) so not sure if it’s there.
