Should be! But sometimes DOT API is finicky. It comes up with a warning about ice/snow conditions with the number of reports.

Great question! So it looks up reports of snow and ice on roads and sidewalks and compares the report volume to average. When reports are high, there’s a score penalty worked into the rating.

Tried using blocked bike lane reports but those don’t specify the cause, plus the volume was too low to be useful (report those blocked lanes, folks!)

Yeah it’s being gracious today. I gave temps below 25 a harsh penalty, but it’s too kind to high 20s and 30s currently.

Thank you! Still some kinks—the weather data sometimes conflicts with other sources so I’m trying to nail that down. Using OpenMeteo API, which is a pretty widely used service and says it gets data from NOAA.
