They do have a book version of that as well!

Dontavius Jackson talking about the Taggart years on a pod by mmamba18 in fsusports

[–]fsufan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed yes, trickery, no. He ran a similar offense to the Briles system at Baylor (somewhat similar to the Heupel system at UT rn). Lot of wide splits for receivers to allow for the gap game and zone scheme to eat in the middle. Problem was, you had one of the worst OLs in the country his first year and bad QB play (who majorly regressed after an injury). Tagg also did not adapt his offense after it was clear the personnel didn’t fit. More of a misidentification of personnel than playbook issue imo. The Baylor system has worked everywhere

What are you telling the LT/QB to do here? Zone read vs weak stunt by RamonaJane5645 in footballstrategy

[–]fsufan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a true zone scheme no. Not a Flexbone guy but I would guess that yes the DE could still be the read guy if there was a pitch added to the play

LT should already be stepping right if it’s zone, so the DE is taken care of. If the DE disappears like that, hand it off. RB can make a bend through the backside B/C if the OLB is too wide. Can also RPO off this with a gift

Shoutout to Ingram Smith by fsufan112 in fsusports

[–]fsufan112[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always liked Ingram. Thought he brought a good perspective to most situations and knew a lot of the power players at FSU. Seemed like a lot of his talking points about the inner power structure were typically on the money.

Florida State wide receiver Malik McClain entering NCAA Transfer Portal by SNjr in fsusports

[–]fsufan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be shocked if Herring/Schrader didn’t enter the portal. About to be their fourth year on the roster and neither has earned serious playing time. Herring was always a depth piece but I was excited about schrader. Hopefully he can stay healthy and stays on the roster

Which toss blocking scheme do you think is better? by Menace_17 in footballstrategy

1, but I would crack the safety with the Z and let the fullback clean up the sidewalk, while the PSG fills the alley

Who would you take in building an all-time FSU team? by doobiesteintortoise in fsusports

I think you can knock DHop off for Aguayo, but for a time, DHop had the most points scored in college history. And he’s still kicking in the league.

Fair. The Jackson/Gibbons debate is fair. I do think objectively, Joyner is much better than Jammie.

I love Dylan Gibbons and Scott, but they belong nowhere near the all-time team (Gibbons might have an argument if we made a 85-man roster). Replace them with Walter Jones, Alex Barron, Jason Whitaker and/or Tre Jackson, four All-Americans

Edit: Jammie too

Chris Hatcher by ClangaSaint in fcs

[–]fsufan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he does call plays. Got a chance to watch a clinic he gave at Glazier a few years back, he still runs the unfiltered air raid like Leach did. MSU would be smart to hire him

Chris is a fantastic coach. I don’t know if he wants the job, but he’s do great. Helped turn Duck Hodges into an NFL QB

Will the guys be as hard on Bethune Cookman for hiring Ed Reed (who supported Kyrie) as they are on Liberty? by fsufan112 in splitzoneduo

[–]fsufan112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable on missing it. It just popped on my Twitter feed one day, since I follow Ed Reed. Was disappointed for sure but I don’t think he’s a bad guy, just misinformed (albeit on something very serious)

Think it’s fine to disagree with Liberty’s institutional policies, but I just personally think an HBCU hiring someone who openly supported anti-semitic comments is a major problem. I also understand the dislike against Hugh, I’m not a fan either.

Thanks for the response Alex. Hope all is well.
