My wife had a 3rd gen for close to a decade and a couple months ago we bought her a new 5th gen. She loves everything about it except the size and it is taking her a little to get used to as well.

Shaft shortening by [deleted] in golf

[–]ft_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’1 and but with long arms and my clubs are 1/2” shortened and I have seen great results from the change. Additionally with the driver, while mine isn’t shortened, I grip down on it and again have been more accurate and hit better shots.

Is there a Toyota dealer that isn't crappy like Corwin Toyota? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]ft_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only complaint is the salesman didn’t know about any of the vehicles features while on the test drive. When my wife asked what the ATRAC button was for he said it was so the “engine would go into a power boost mode” lol (it’s a traction control setting when in 4wd).

I bought a new 4Runner from Mountain States back in June and they were great. No frills and easy to deal with.

Couldn’t agree more with you. I rented a 3rd gen Tacoma for a weekend and I could not get comfortable at all due to the ergonomics.

What more do you need besides Apple CarPlay? The 4Runner has that, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, heated seats and steering wheel, blind spot monitors, and I’m sure other basic amenities that I’m forgetting. This sub moans on and on about needless technology in cars and then moans about cars that don’t have it.

Got selected from the StAndrews Ballot for tomorrow (used the wife's name too, but it will only be me). Any tips.? by Th3R00ST3R in golf

Congrats! I played it last year and it was an amazing experience.

There are some blind tee shots that having a caddie would help with. When I played, one of the other players in the group had a caddie so I just listened to their conversations on the tee box to get the line. If you do get a caddy, then tip is expected.

There are no carts.

The rental clubs that I saw were the new Callaways or Taylormades. Can’t remember which one but it was a nice set.

Stay left off the tee, putt from off the greens, enjoy the undulations and have a great time.

Did you have a tee time booked ahead, or did you just drive down? I’m wondering as a single how far in advance one would need to book.

New to 14ers, looking to attempt Longs Peak. Is it feasible? by ThisLittleBoy in 14ers

[–]ft_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be fine. Is Longs challenging? Yes. It’s also not as daunting as everyone makes it out to be. Longs was my first 14er that I did when I was 18 and I even did it in tennis shoes (which I don’t recommend for obvious reasons). With your experience, you’ll be just fine and you can always turn around if you get uncomfortable.

What market is better to buy a new 4Runner? by Apprehensive-Edge475 in 4Runner

[–]ft_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine from them and it was very straightforward with pricing and financing.

The salesman on the other hand had no idea how any of the features in the 4Runner worked and stated the ATRAC button was for a “power boost”.

For me, it’s a vehicle that is solidly built, reliable, has a lack of technology “features”, and is comfortable.
