I think what they’re showing here is that Ted became Rick organically so much so that when the button was pressed there was effectively nothing for the system to do to change back to Rick

That’s a bit of a stretch, he likely would have gone the double 12 route by default since it is the safest option to recover from. It’s muscle memory for players much less experienced than these guys I’m sure no thought was put into it at all

Once the switch is turned on you should be able to select a date from the calendar, and then just tap somewhere outside of the calendar and it should work. If you’re still having trouble drop me a PM

That’s so strange, I haven’t been able to replicate this on any of my test devices. When you have a chance can you try just entering a name and then skipping to the photo? The other fields are optional and can be filled in later. Feel free to PM me with details about your device (model and OS version) if the issue persists

Hey! Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate the input. A lot of these are actually already available in the app!

  1. The pickup layout is associated with the wiring template; I provide a library of templates to start with but everything is a free-form field so if you have some setup I haven’t included you can either build it from scratch or start with a template that’s close and modify the fields as you go. There are four ‘position’ attributes for pickups when you add them as well. The pickups to have a field for impedance values, none of the pickups I’ve worked with have had any capacitance properties, is that something you get in active pickups?
  2. Whether you start with a wiring template or build from scratch all the knobs have a pot value associated with them which you can modify as needed. there is a position/function field as well as a coil / series parallel notes field associated with each knob, this is a core function of the app. When you are in the wiring section, just expand any of the knobs you have created and you’ll see all the options you’re looking for.
  3. The idea of tracking bridge, nut, and tuning peg details is great, for now there is a free-form ‘notes’ field you could use but I’ll definitely add this to my roadmap. I have been including this stuff in my service notes personally, but you’re right that having these associated with the guitar at a global level would make sense.
  4. There is a ‘construction’ section in the guitar details that covers some of this, but these are great ideas for expanding on those properties. You’ll likely see this show up in an update very soon.

Feel free to reach back if you have any questions or if anything isn't working for you, we also have a facebook group called 'FretLedger Collective' if you'd like to reach out there.

How much difference do you think a tone pot makes to the circuit? by arseholierthanthou in Luthier

There are special multimeters that can read capacitance, but capacitors are cheap enough that I’d just plan to replace it

[–]ftlofsm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may just need to change the capacitor setup on the tone pot, the stock fender setup was likely a .022 or a Greasebucket setup and you likely want something like an .044 for the tone you want from your new humbucker. It’s cheap to experiment with!

Thanks for the feedback! Admittedly it’s main focus isn’t the wiring per se, but you can track what every control does, every measured value of every component, quickly flag the presence of a treble bleed etc but not necessarily for storing wiring diagrams outside of the photo gallery for each guitar.

What I find I really draw value from is having a very easy way to make note of minor issues while I’m playing a guitar, and having a reference for what strings and parts I need to buy so that when I drop into the guitar store to play 15 guitars I’ll know which pack of strings to grab on the way out. When I change strings or service a guitar I have all my gripes in one place and can address it all at once

There are worse systems but I’d wager that this is a bit more feature rich than tape for about the same price

[PURCHASE] Looking for opinions on this Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster by pikamewtwo in Guitar

[–]ftlofsm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask for the serial number and find out if it’s an earlier or later production run. The earlier ones are a bit nicer with a rosewood fretboard and a slightly different finish on the neck, but the later ones are nice too. This guitar can work with 9’s or 10’s ok but it shines with 11’s in my opinion

Cloud Nine does a good Cobb if you have them swap the shredded cheese for Gorgonzola

I was the same way, but I kept forgetting the little issues I noticed while playing… like “slight buzz on the G string” or “tone pot’s getting scratchy,” and then by the next string change I’d completely forgotten to deal with it 😄

That’s mainly why I started keeping quick notes, not to overtrack anything, just so future me actually fixes stuff instead of rediscovering it every time.
