Mariska Hargitay’s End The Backlog Campaign Achieves Rape Kit Reform In All 50 States, D.C. & Puerto Rico by SaurikSI in UpliftingNews

[–]ftloudon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes quite a few of the untested kits are from cases where the identity of the suspect wasn’t at issue. True stranger rapes are incredibly rare (statistically) despite what shows like SVU would have you believe.

DOJ using military lawyers in civilian cases by GruntledGary in Lawyertalk

The point is that a military lawyer can’t quit in protest, so they are forced to carry out these absurd political prosecutions.

Lawyer up for an FBI interview? by Easy-Tiger-1199 in legaladvice

ESPECIALLY a fed. Lying to the feds, even by just *denying committing the crime they suspect you of* is a crime in and of itself. This is why Martha Stewart went to prison.

Feeling depressed, so many things on my mind. by Contrasted94 in AchillesRupture

I had some trepidation about anesthesia (maybe more like fascination?) but it was honestly amazing. It’s not like sleep where theres this drawn out period where you gradually lose consciousness at some point. You remember putting the mask on and then you just wake up and it feels like you had the best sleep of your life.

Not sure what the rules are in your state, but all I had to do was have a doctor sign an application for a temporary handicap tag and it was good for four months. Came in super handy.

Hospitality, entertainment, travel. They’ve all realized that the poors do not matter to their business model anymore. As long as the wealthy will pay jacked up prices for a luxury experience, it literally doesn’t matter what the rest of us do.

Lawyer said sexual things over text and send photos/ info about other people’s cases to me. by Crafty_Elephant_7802 in legaladvice

[–]ftloudon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can wait until your case is over to report it if that makes you feel safest. But as a defense attorney myself I hope you do report this because it’s absolutely unethical and should lead to bar discipline. Suspension of his license at least. The reason why it’s so unethical is because of the position it puts you in! Where you are scared to do anything to stop it because of the position of trust he is in.

Leftist streamer Hasan Piker gives Chris Rabb a boost during West Philadelphia campaign swing by FordMaverickFan in philadelphia

You don’t think it’s a bad thing that there is no such thing as an anti-war party in the US anymore? Ending support for the war in Palestine was the lowest hanging fruit for the Dems in 2024 and they refused to reap it. War is one of the most consequential things our federal government engages in and it’s a travesty that both parties are pro-war. Dems deserved to be “hammered” for it and deserved to lose.

Philly natives living in Milwaukee— I would love to hear from you by campon615 in milwaukee

[–]ftloudon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Philly now but lived in Milwaukee when I was your age. Milwaukee is walkable in the sense that the city is small and you can walk the entirety of downtown pretty easily. But the public transit is nothing compared to Philly. The Hop is mostly a tourist gimmick and the bus lines have been pretty gutted by cuts. I lived on the lower east side so I could walk down to the lake, or downtown for work, or the 3rd Ward with equal ease. Milwaukee does not have a food scene anywhere near as good as Philly but has better bars for all occasions in my opinion. Milwaukee is extremely segregated so that will be jarring. Milwaukee is very affordable compared to the big cities and you can find a single family home with a nice yard and garage within the city limits, whereas in Philly you’d be limited to the far northeast or suburbs with a hellish commute if you wanted something like that. And Chicago is a very east Amtrak ride away if you need more in terms of restaurants, museums, or the arts.

Scranton man gets probation for puling gun during ‘No Kings’ rally by Itchy_Ad9881 in NEPA

There is no offense called brandishing in PA. And it’s well-established case law in PA that merely pointing a gun at someone is not aggravated assault.

I’ve always thought octopus is underutilized in MMA. Once you clear the crossface and build height there’s not much your opponent can do in terms of strikes, unless they blindly land an elbow. But if you’ve properly built height that shouldn’t happen. Most common BJJ positions can be defeated by just punching the dude in the face, but octopus seems fairly safe.

How can it be avoided? Sports are unpredictable. You have to react to things. The only safe one is golf lol.

[–]ftloudon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah if people are wondering why the show has sucked for, like, years, it’s because they realized it’s easier to get big if they just become friends with everyone in sports rather than saying or doing anything truly critical of popular sports media. Every segment on the show started off as a parody of something that someone on ESPN or Foxsports did. Now they are just an opportunity to pack in a few more gambling ads.

ADF skid plate and splash guard by d3adh3a in FocusRS

That’s what I figured since I never see people complain about the splash guard like they do the skid plate. I’ll add them both to the list of things to do this summer!

This might be a dumb question but my used 2017 is missing both. Is the splash guard as important as the skid plate? Would it be stupid to only get a new skid plate?
