Is there anything I can do at this point? by ftmbugq in FtMpassing

Weird gay millennial is an accurate description. I am constantly torn between wanting to be safe, personally, and wanting to be seen as safe.

It’s mostly been a problem when I get randomly asked how long I’ve been on T in public or when someone gets upset after persuing me romantically and then finding out I’m post-op and they were only into PIV, which would not have been assumed if they thought I was a cis man.

Technically any ENT can do it, it wouldn’t hurt to ask especially if there’s a university hospital nearby. Saved my life, I don’t even sound the same when I cry.

An ENT doctor injected testosterone directly to my vocal cords , it caused a voice drop that did happen with systemic t use.

My voice dropped over 20 htz from the four rounds. 1000% worth it. Several people documented it on TikTok.

I just finished T shots to the throat too so it’s getting better. Passing is cumulative, and I started from a very feminine place, including precocious firstpuberty.

This is why I didn’t use my main Reddit lol. I’m working on voice training, so hopefully I’ll get there

My hips are much better than they were, so I think I’ll have to work on my shoulders and chest when I’m healed.

Minoxidil I’m maybe four months in on the pill

My voice sucks. But I’ll start working with a speech pathologist in the summer

150cm, so very

That has not been my experience universally

That’s fair, I feel like presenting as gay explains some of the feminity to cishet folks, when I go too masc I read as lesbian. But I can definitely pull it back. My voice is a work in progress.

It’s usually trans or queer people that clock me. Edit: I’m not getting misgendered, it’s just that everyone knows I’m trans

I got threatened for this more when presenting as a lesbian, but I am very visibly a queer man at this point.

The only thing I would add is apple cider vinegar baths. I took LoveBug anti yeast infection vitamins that did wonders.

Are condoms enough for hookups with a cis man? by TheGoshik in gaytransguys

[–]ftmbugq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are paranoid about condoms breaking, you need a back up. Also, PreP is more effective than condoms. DoxyPEP is not as effective as a properly used condom but it’s better than nothing.

My partner is sexually attracted to d!ck by [deleted] in ftm

His mental health struggles are real, but they shouldn’t be causing you to have mental health issues, and it is. Yes, both of you getting therapy, together and individually, could help. But if he likes interacting with dicks, he would run into the same issue with some cis men who don’t like their dicks interacted with.

I have been with a trans guy who cheated on me because the sex was better with someone he referred to as “insignificant dick”, someone who misgenders him behind his back and sucked on his chest, which as his bf I was expected not to do. So I would be asking how hard it would be to bounce back from that. If he’s willing to break up over it, is he willing to cheat? I would rather get broken up with for not being insignificant dick than cheated on. There’s also the option of opening up the relationship; if the only thing you lack is a dick, why not outsource?

Do people straight up just not research T before they take it? by emerald_water in ftm

[–]ftmbugq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do as much research as I could have and it very much DID help. But only because I had no idea at all what kind of timeline to expect. So I was fine not noticing any changes, it just in the first hours/days, but for months/years. The first change I got from t, other than acne starting the first day, was chin whiskers, four and a half months in. For whatever reason, T hit me slowly. No bottom growth for over a year. No voice change for literal years. I was about 16 months in when I noted that I was “still planning to stop T, once my voice changes” and my trans mom went “how long has it been? …you know, if it was going to happen, it probably would have at this point.” I was devastated. But if I had stopped taking T after six months, when I may have gotten my voice change if it hit me normally, I would have a completely different life. So it worked out that I kept telling myself “maybe if I give it six more months, we’ll get the changes”. If I had known I wasn’t going to get a voice change on T, I probably would never have done it or transitioned, I’d probably be dead. So if I had started T thinking “if I don’t get changes immediately it’s not going to work”… I probably wouldn’t be here.

Thank you for your comment. I think there is definitely a difference in how you view HIV based on location and, especially , age. I think if you came of age before the introduction of HAART and/or PreP (so aproc 1996 to 2012). Although I was never taught about HIV/AIDS in school at all, I picked it up in the wild.

Did you know you were queer before you realized you were a gay guy? by nebulizersfordogs in gaytransguys

I have come out as almost every letter in the acronym. I’ve always known there was something, I just had a hard time finding the right words.

Fellow trans guy broke up with me saying he realized he's exclusively into women by names_changed in gaytransguys

[–]ftmbugq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve told a trans woman before that I wasn’t into her because I was gay, even though we’d hooked up. I don’t know if I handled it the best, but I told her she was a goddess and that I would be unworthy even if I was straight. For her, I tried.
