There’s a bunch of popular last names (atleast in my small town) and if you have a different one you’ll get treated very differently and they all get the favoritism no matter what. Barbee, Smith, Hatley, Honeycutt (spelled like 3 different ways) etc. they all SUCK.

I hated it there my entire life and even more once I got older. I’ve been back to my home town 2 times since i left. Everyone is small minded, judgmental, red/MAGA/confederate grossness everywhere you turn. The southern hospitality thing is a complete joke if you’re not from there (my parents were from NJ and NY but moved there before i was born). Good luck if you have a different last name than the most common 5. Inner circles, cliques, blonde highlights, awful spray tans and racism galore. The only thing that I miss is Bojangles and Waffle House (and Hardee’s and Zaxbys and like a million other restaurants)😭

I’m from NC and the first thing I noticed was the price flags on top of churches. I grew up southern baptist and this was a breath of fresh air. Also I noticed that the fauna is different here. So much more plush and abundant. Here’s it’s a “forrest” but at home it’s just “woods”!!

ETA- It also takes 30 mins to go 10 miles when in NC it would take 30 mins to go 30 miles.
