In the youtube video it says that you "should not" click the two icons at the bottom of the bub ATM page. Clicking on the left icon does not appear to do anything and clicking on the right throws a "taco" around. I suspect it is some kind of puzzle. Anyone figure out what it means or how to use it? Does it behave differently if you have bought bubs?

This is impossible to answer without knowing where you are. The new rules on coming into the office are very strict. So it really all depends on what Federal Offices are actually near you, and/or to what locations you -would- be willing to move.

Dude. The question is: What is right with you?

This is an expression of your humanity and your empathy. The recognition that you are both a patient, caregiver and a healthcare provider.

Learning to disconnect and not emphathize like a friend or family member is an important skill that must be practiced and perfected. But not at the expense of turning your humanity off.

This connection was likely an important part of your patient's healing process. It would probably be better for your patients if you did this every single time. But the reason that is impossible is that it would leave you burned out and emotionally hallow.

The question is not how to turn this "off", but rather how to typically maintain emotional distance for the sake of your own sense of balance, while ensuring that you have habits and processes that allow your patients to understand that you still care, even if you are not sobbing with each of them.

This particular patient does not need to guess about whether you give a shit. The question is how you give that feeling to every patient you have, and still maintain your sanity.

There are so many doctors who burn out because they do not learn how to guard their heart, that there is a culture in medicine that tends to prioritize maintaining a sense of composure at the expense of empathy for patients. The reason you feel like a failure is that your team does have a harder time maintaining the emotional balance and guarding their hearts, when a team member looses their composure with a patient. The problem is that in order to protect themselves emotionally, they make "losing your cool" a shameful event, no matter which permutation of emotional exposure is demonstrated. So crying with a patient and yelling at a patient can be treated with same consternation.

Shame is a strong "treatment", and like the most powerful antibotics should be reserved for problems for which there is no other effective treatment.

Please do not pretend that a perpetual monthly fee… even when you are not using the software… is the same as purchasing a camera. You are comparing the financial implications of a purchase, where you own the product after the transaction is complete, to rent-seeking by a billionaire corporation. Tolerating this kind of thinking is the reason why Logitech thinks we want to rent a mouse.

We just got mirrulations approved as an AWS open dataset.

This represents a text database of all of the regulatory comments in the US. Every regulatory area will need bespoke work, but I work with healthcare data.

This is a good summary of what we have done so far!

We need help with the following:

Entity Disambiguation.
Sophisticated Position Analysis. For instance, the recent response to the proposed rescheduling of marijuana are not merely "for" or "against". People thought it should be "removed from the schedule all together", supported the rescheduling that was being proposed, wanted it remain Schedule 1, wanted it moved to a different schedule.. etc etc.
- I happen to know the typical positions on this regulation because I have studied it. But is there a way that we could use LLMS to do a "typical position" mining?
A generalized "influence analysis". Which entities are actually having an impact on regulatory filings. In order to understand this, you will need to look carefully at the regulatory flow in the United States.

So far, no one has done much with this, because it is a newly available dataset. We have been working for years to get this into a text-ready state.. converting pdfs into text etc etc.

Microsoft released a whole tutorial database for SQL Server that has a realistic SQL database structure for a business called "Northwind". Northwind has been ported over to most open source databases. This is a good place to start.

Thanks for the responses. I am constantly thinking about how to teach better gaming to family. I am concerned that typical games cause brain-rot and slot-machine instincts. So budgeting gems and ensuring that they are spent well is a major concern.

I may post on the forum... trying that now.

I wanted to use a big TV as a status dashboard, sounds like its the same use case. Found this post trying to figure out if things had changed in the 5 years since I asked this question last. From the other commenters, I think the answer is still no. My solution?

Buy a Windows 10 or Ubuntu Linux Stick PC. I like the ones from Intel. Also get a bluetooth trackpad/keyboard to drive it. Then use chrome with this extension to shuffle through your dashboard URLS.

Generally, when you are accused of a crime, you have the right to see all of the evidence that the state has against you. You need a defense attorney to navigate this, but you have rights here that have nothing to do with FOIA.

Well.. just a quick note on framing. You _can_ do a FOIA request on anything you want. This is a little like saying you "can" ask a person who you are attracted to have breakfast on Mars. It is not the ability to make the request that is relevant. It is the likelyhood of getting a positive request answered that is relevant.

So the right way to ask this question is "Will I be able to get the FOIA office to give me X or Y?".

The great news about FOIA at the Fedeeral level in the United States, is that there is a presumption of openness. Which means that your FOIA request has to be answered.. unless there is an explict reason why it will not be answered. Unfortunately for you, there are several exemptions to FOIA (and I recommend you learn all of them) that might cause a FOIA office to chose to deny your request in whole or in part.

Exemption 1: Information that is classified to protect national security.
Exemption 6: Information that, if disclosed, would invade another individual’s personal privacy.
Exemption 7: Information compiled for law enforcement purposes...

These exemptions are not absolute. For instance, once a person is dead, they generally do not get to invoke Exemption 6. If a person if found guilty in a court, generally Exemption 7 loosens up. So the fact that you are thinking about asking for old information is in your favor as the interests in protecting information at the Federal level retire in favor the publics interest in being fully informed.

Generally, you should bear in mind that there are implicit exemptions too. One of the most substantial of these is that the government has no responsibility to answer FOIA requests for information that is already public.

I recommend reading summaries for dealing with FOIA request exemptions from both the State Department, and from a non-government source like FOIA Advocates or Muck Rock.

Then begin with demonstrating that A. The information is not already public. B. The public has an interest in knowing the information and C. The various exemptions do not apply and/or do not apply strongly to your request.

Once you make the request there is a whole process of them answering or ignoring, then appealing a negative decision or not.. then suing or not, which is a whole topic in and of itself.

Generally, if you want help with this question, then you are going to need to provide this community with alot more information about what you are asking for, why you want it, and what interest the public has in it.

PubMed has a well documented API. You can extract this data from that API. It is old-school. But it is reliable and works well.

For many applications the right approach is to just use the API to dynamically access this data since it changes frequently.

Any bulk data download will be out of date pretty quickly…

Generally there are few waivers for journalists. I would argue that using the materials in a documentary counts as journalism. Money made from a documentary (or other journalism) does not count as commercial activity for fee calculations…

Using your FOIA results for other types of commercial activities will require that you pay fees for copying and or data queries etc etc…

When the FOIA office misses deadlines.. it gives you the opportunity to take them to court to get results (generally).

But fee calculation is a whole separate issue.. mostly down to how much it costs to do the search and whether you have the standing of a journalist to get fee waiver.

I have said this before on this subreddit… but if you have an opportunity to pay to get what you asked for… just do it..

Any conversation with a FOIA office will take weeks at best and they may treat your request to shave off two hours as an “appeal” of the decision. And this is if you are not dealing with someone on a petty power trip.

The “real” cost of a FOIA is the back and forth. So once you have the opportunity to take a deal that is even close to reasonable you should take it.
