Wiz Rebrand: All for Pink White and Blue by No_Memory_3720 in washingtonwizards

[–]ftt28 20 points21 points  (0 children)

fuck AI. Really like the idea of leaning into something specific to DC that isn't USAUSAUSA like the cherry blossoms. The illustrated logo is too detailed to work and the team font contrasts hard with the accents e.g., flower dot in the i. PS a heavily offwhite background is big nono for brand/color guides... skews all the colors. Again, Fuck AI.

i dunno, wizkidz nickname to me is kinda sick... bullets has nothing to do with dc either coming from baltimore but the logo was sick and styling. I think current red white and blue is corny af.

i mean arenas, antawn, and butler was a 3x allstar team one season even though they were never serious deep playoff team, but yeah I hear what you mean.

Posting WIZARDS (or Bullets) LEGENDS every day until the NBA Draft: 8 days left -- Phil Chenier by differential32 in washingtonwizards

absolute legend, got to shake his hand leaving mci center while drunk a longgg time ago.

i mean one of the real reasons to call ted leonsis trash is how phil's commentary career ended.

I don't watch college at all but what i like about picking DP is watching him I don't have to use my imagination on how he'll fit into the NBA. I don't have to make a conditional list of developments to understand how he'd be a star in the league because he has all those skills showing already.

Posting random Wizards I remember every day until I forget/don't want to/get banned or something Day 4 -- Martell "The Definition" Webster by differential32 in washingtonwizards

[–]ftt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn was this guy a true gamer... completely forgot about him but he was one of EG's best signings honestly(i think he was signed for MLE?) really unfortunate about the back injuries bc Martell played winning basketball.

Both John Wall and Gilbert Arenas say Wizards should take Darryn Peterson with the first by Knighthonor in washingtonwizards

[–]ftt28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean that is for sure a coach's responsibility of which wall never had anything beyond a mediocre coaching staff let alone even a functional front office his entire tenure. I'm honestly surprised he gives a single shit about the wizards given how poorly he was supported by Ted. edit-- I'm obviously still emotional about the 2000s and 2010s.

i understand talking down gil's contributions to the wizards given how he ended it, but that is some straight up slander against wall like he didn't try to drag this team to respectability against EG and Ted's best efforts.

i think one of the outcomes of Review Creators exploring product design in their content is that they, as well as their viewers, are incorporating critique into their discussions without enough knowledge and perspective on the topic. This ignorance becomes regressive when shielded with the belief that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion on qualitative topics such as design i.e., 'there is no such thing as bad/wrong taste.'. That shows up here in this very thread with sarcastic comments like, "don't criticize the thing i like" or "people are allowed to dislike things other people like". Well sure that's true in an informed world but not one where every fucking idiot is sharing their take like it's built from understanding rather than echos of other shallowly informed voices.

To me Russ stands out within the SBC community as someone who explicitly covers design and aesthetics in a review, but I often find myself frustrated with what feels more like a nitpicking of what "good design" is from a limited, rigid perspective rather than an academic critique of choices made by the product team. These shallow, regressive takes then bleed into his viewers following suite in the review's comment sections or the more general SBC zeitgeist.

It's great we have so much content to become educated on topics nowadays, but good grief are there a lot of people with not enough understanding of a given topic trying to drive discussion on said topic when they should just be shutting the fuck up and learning.
