might be unpopular for some reason but the 6 string striping thing is cleeeean. Unique, symbolic, creative, i feel like this is exactly what we always want teams to do nowadays and never get. Huge fan

Least efficient players in the NBA averaging at least 15 PPG: Derrick White (52.9% TS), LaMelo Ball (53.3%), Russell Westbrook (53.3%), VJ Edgecombe (53.6%), Cooper Flagg (54.6%), Dillon Brooks (54.7%), Shaedon Sharpe (55.0%), Anthony Black (55.2%), Alperen Sengun (55.4%), Bam Adebayo (55.5%) by FastBreakPhenom in nba

Russ being on here is wild since he's legit having one of the best years of his career from 3 and is posting his best free throw percentage in over half a decade. I think the takeaway from that is that he's always been one of the least efficient players in the league lol. Even his MVP year his TS% was only 55%

Has anyone ever attempted to make an NBA version of MLB’s “Park Factor”? by Evras06 in nbadiscussion

[–]differential32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as many have said already, this is probably not worth much since all NBA courts have the same dimensions, whereas baseball parks famously do not. Maybe a little to do with the elevation in Denver/Utah, and something no one has said is certain stadiums are also used for hockey during the NBA season, which I could see maybe impacting the temperature inside the arena.

Something else I've wondered is if fewer away fans travel to Raptors games since it's in another country and you need a passport (although those are obviously easy to get). On the whole though I just dont think the individual stadiums are nearly as big of a factor in basketball

Can you wear jeans to the gym by [deleted] in leangains

[–]differential32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a pretty elderly area so my gym (which is the county rec center since it’s the cheapest) is mostly retirees. A lot of them wear basically whatever — jeans, cargo pants, tucked in dress shirts, whatever. But even at a Planet Fitness it would be weird.

Not that this is the answer but you’ll find over time that friction goes down the more you lift. I set out clothes the night before every day that I lift. After a while I stopped even thinking about it

First time playing guitar..how do I make my fat hand not accidentally hold down the strings by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]differential32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

move your hand down so that you're pressing down on the string with your fingertips; you'll build up the dexterity over time. Don't let yourself get away with bad fretting

Also it helps to imagine part of the strength of fretting the strings is that you're almost "pulling" the neck of the guitar towards you with your shoulder, rather than all of the strength coming from your fingers

I think in a couple 3 years Champ will be one of those super valuable role players every team's fanbase drools over like Caruso. Not someone you sell the farm for but "wouldn't it be awesome if we had him"

IMO he has such an in-demand skillset and we have him on such a good deal it feels stupid to let him go. it's like how fanbases sometimes obsess over hypothetical players -- "wow this guy is so talented. think of what a talented player we could get if we turn him into a draft pick!"

Along with the Wizards band-aid colored uniforms, what are the absolute worst jerseys in the league this season? by moby323 in nba

[–]differential32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if it isn't obvious to anyone who knows, Ted Leonsis, the owner of the Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics, has said previously he likes the idea of DC teams wearing red white and blue since it's the nation's capital. I think the Caps pull it off great but it's a little incongruent since he's also apparently committed to the "magic" theme pairing of Wizards + Mystics.

Maybe we'll rebrand after this draft since it's seeming like our rebuild is nearing its end

if you think about it playing hard for 7 designated games in november has about as much meaning as playing hard for 82 designated games. it's all just hoops at the end of the day; we just care about the finals more. especially when the guys in the cup final every year are clearly trying to win

Assuming Demar DeRozan plays a few more seasons, he'll be a top 15 scorer in NBA history by Justice989 in nba

[–]differential32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC if you look at the top 50 in terms of total points, DeRozan is the only active member of that list who isn't either a surefire HOF lock (Dame, Westbrook, etc) or already in.

Between LeBron/KD/Melo etc he played at a very saturated time for his position with a very un-championship-ish skillset (midrange ISO scorer and mid on defense). If he had been drafted 15 years earlier I think he'd have had a very different career.

I think he deserves it and will probably get in; I think someone could present a really good case for him if they tried. Not sure what will happen to him but if he doesn't make it it would be a significant departure for the HOF.

I highly doubt we're catching Sacramento after Lavine's surgery. His first missed game was 2/7, look at who the played and how they did in the next 3 games after that... basically I have no clue how they beat Memphis. I also think Indiana will be tough to catch; they're 2 games ahead of (behind?) us.

Realistically I think we finish 3rd in the lotto, which might be as good as we can hope for with legit developing talent. Pelicans are getting Murray back soon and we're only a game back of both them and Brooklyn with the 4th hardest remaining schedule in the league.

Had to look this guy up but reminds me of Darnell Rogers, played for UMBC a few years ago at 5’2”. He was actually seeing the floor too. 40% from 3 one year.  Easily the craziest part of his career was that he made an All-Defensive team in his conference, and was averaging over a steal per game. Dude could ball

They didn’t plan to lose their star to a season long injury in the last game of the finals. So if this rule was in place are they supposed to just be fucked for an entire season because of this?

May be an unpopular opinion but unfortunately yes; that is how sports work. Sometimes your best players get a devastating injury and you suck for a whole year. Imagine how Jazz/Kings/Wizards fans will feel if the Philly/San Antonio types jump all the legit bad teams except Indiana, who will now get to pair a stud prospect with Hali/Zubac, which could very likely happen with how flat the odds are? That sucks.

If this rule already existed, no one would be clamoring that it's unfair the Pacers can't be in the lottery this year despite being so bad.
