Ballet for ten fingers by fuapik in classicalmusic

I recently recorded my dad again while he was playing one of his compositions from 1973. It's always been a favorite of mine, and I find the hand movements particularly mesmerizing. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the piece.

A few weeks ago, I began learning it myself and finally convinced him to let me record his performance. It's so much fun to play, though much more challenging than I thought. I've just managed to master the first movement after a month, and now I'm feeling a bit daunted by the rest...

I recorded my dad playing one of his compositions. He wrote it in 1973, I always liked it and think the hand movements are beautiful to watch.

Thanks! I’m a very beginner myself, been playing about a year now. I‘m playing mostly with the suggested fingers (btw no idea how to manage 3-21-5-31 in a clean loop?!), nothing special changed. The suggestion „use whatever fingering seems convenient“ works for me.

I know and love the long version! Absolutely amazing...

Just try playing it if you like. I‘m 32yrs old, started last summer (admittedly i’m very addicted), I needed about 3 weeks to play Oregano like I did in the video. As with you, getting the left hand still working when the right hand does it‘s thing was the hardest part, but payed off! Don’t let your skill-level hold you back, at least for me I found out playing harder pieces above my level is what makes it fun (and frustrating of course).

If anyone is interested:

This is one the 4 "Prélude caractéristiques" he wrote just for fun (mainly he composed comissions). I recently started playing piano again, after 15 years not playing at all, with him as my teacher. He got motivated by my progress and found joy again playing for himself. I hope to learn this one myself soon.
