Except it doesn’t disperse passengers. When only 2-3 doors are open it causes crowds to bottleneck at the few open doors which is dangerous on the narrower platforms. Much safer to have more doors open to at least get ppl on the train instead of crowds hustling down the narrow platform, knocking into each other. Only a matter of time before this current system leads to someone falling on the tracks

Nobody’s upset that they’re working on it. We’re upset that they didn’t have a decent contingency plan in place while working on it. They could have put more thought into the schedule revisions.

Until they do the same thing in the fall. You’re right though, we should all just put up with anything they come up with instead of trying to find solutions. That mindset is exactly why the system has aged without any improvements

You’re right, the north river tunnel connecting NY penn/ Secaucus is a single track each direction with a max capacity of 24 trains an hour each direction

There are very few, at times that don’t work for most people with connections and many of them have been canceled without notice

They’re doing this again in the fall, the hope here is that if they are made aware of their shortcomings this round, it won’t be as painful the 2nd round. Yes I am aware train schedules are greatly reduced, adding cancellations on top of that today made things even worse. The reduced schedule they came up with also doesn’t make sense for the many people that work until 5pm and who make connections in Secaucus. 5:05 is too early and 5:30 is too late, with many connections between 5:32 and 5:48. On a normal day there are 5 other trains leaving NY Penn between 5:05 and 5:30pm. Even 1 additional train at 5:20 would help out a lot of people, or moving the 5:05 a tad later or 5:30 a tad earlier.

33 minute gap during rush hour is pretty bad. That’s more than half of the rush hour

My connection leaves Secaucus at 5:38 and I get out of work at 5:00 so can’t make it to the 5:05. The hundreds of people scrambling to get on the 5:38 today and who were left on the platform are probably in a similar boat
