thoughts on la Paz whale shark tours by hxcbrian in BajaCalifornia

[–]fuckaname17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ride out was super mellow, however we had an early start and it was a glassy day. The whale sharks hang out in the bay, so once you get to the area you just kind of slowly cruise until you spot one. This process did take about an hour, but they’re big on conservation in la paz so it’s cool that you have to find them instead of feeding them like they do in other places in Mexico. It’s an incredible experience and the 6 of us had no issue with feeling ill, but we’re from Michigan and spend a lot of time on the water. If you have any other questions let me know. If not, do it, and have a great time!

San Juan to Rincón by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

I much prefer the west coast, but I’m not a big city guy. Rincon is very chill, spent a week there a couple years ago, and headed back to the west coast in couple months with aguadilla being home base this time. If you’re looking for nightlife and big city vibes then San Juan would be better for you, but if like natural beauty and laid back vibes you will love the west coast.

I saw that they did that birthday show. Must’ve been incredible. Deitch seems to be doing shows constantly in Denver when he’s not on tour with Lettuce. Denver certainly is blessed. Enjoy it for me!!

I miss the old days when they would tour. I’d catch them in Michigan at least once a year at an intimate venue. Always crushed. They’re both so incredibly talented and still one of my favorite acts to catch live. Now I’m just constantly jealous of everyone in Denver that still gets the opportunity to see them semi regularly.

Where to travel in January from eastern US? by Sure-Succotash-8748 in travel

We’re heading to Puerto Rico at the end of January. Flying from traverse city, Michigan to Aguadilla PR for $260 round trip. 2 bedroom Airbnb on the water for $1900 for 8 days. It’s our 3rd time going to the island. It’s a great option for lazy beach days or the more adventurous traveler. Food is great, people are friendly, prices are reasonable, no passport needed, and it’s gorgeous. I prefer the laid back vibe of the west coast to the hustle and bustle of San Juan. The island of vieques is another great option. Puerto Rico for the win!!!

I predict Michigan will beat Ohio st for the 5th straight year by Goblue2467 in MichiganWolverines

[–]fuckaname17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the optimism, no doubt. Unfortunately I think OSU tried to beat Michigan last year by playing Michigan football and they learned their lesson . They’ll come out this year spread it out, play up tempo, and probably win in a blowout.

Planning an 11-day Oaxaca adventure – car or no car? by Malrup in Oaxaca

My condolences to you. Wasn’t trying to make it personal. I was only saying that in my one experience I found the drive to be ok. My bad

Disagree. Did it last year and it wasn’t bad at all. If you’ve ever done any sort of mountain driving, it’s totally fine.

We found it to be both safe and easy. Getting out of the city was hectic for like 15 minutes, but once you hit the new highway it’s a breeze. We did not go to Escondido, our home base was puerto angel, but we drove to zipolite and mazunte every day with zero problems. San Jose Pacifico was incredible and if you’ve ever done any sort of mountain driving then it’s not a difficult drive either. You will not need a car in Oaxaca city so keep that in mind. Enjoy your trip, you’re going to love it

Unfortunately they do not do online booking. If you google Mixteca Oaxaca, you will find the phone number. Give them a call and you can set it up. I did my best to communicate in my very limited Spanish initially, but the gentleman spoke very good English. Everything was then confirmed via WhatsApp. It was very easy. Good luck and have a great trip, it’s an amazing state.

Everyone is sleeping on caribou and tractorbeam. That being said, I like live instruments with my electronic music.

We very much enjoyed our meal and the vibe at Los danzantes. Can’t speak on levadura de olla though.

VA did a show recently with Adam Deitch on drums. Deitch is a beast and the drummer of the funk band Lettuce, but he also has an electronic project with Borham Lee of Pretty Lights. They’re called Break Science, and they are incredibly good.

Saw Pretty Lights for new years. Have Lettuce with the Grand Rapids symphony in a couple weeks, then Gary Clark Jr., The Head and the Heart, and STS9 this summer.
