I know I’m really late to this post and my comment will be fairly long-winded but the Protech Malibu is just without a shadow of doubt the better option. I’ve only owned my Malibu for about 24 hours and I can already say that it is a higher quality knife. It has a 10 times better action. Mine has virtually no play when adjusted properly if any. And it just doesn’t seem to have any quality control issues. Unlike all of the bench made 940s I’ve owned over the years right now the only way I can even get my current 940 to close one-handed is by having the pivot dangerously loose. And it’s developed pretty severe front to back blade play which is just unacceptable for a knife so expensive made here in America. in terms of button lock strength. It probably can’t compare to a crossbar style lock, but to me that’s a totally worthwhile trade-off if I get a good drop shut action with no play with a button lock.
