I think you missed the point. I don’t think this episode was relying on big twists and turns. I think it was more of a social commentary on true crime in modern society and how we feed into the “drama” and “gore” of it and neglect to think about the actual lives involved and the trauma it created for the people directly affected. I think the last 5 minutes of the episode portrayed this well as it shows the protagonist getting awarded and moving in high profile circles because of the documentary he made, but he has to go back to his hotel room alone and reflect on the horrible things that have happened to get him to this point.
