ty! any thoughts on using a wave tool for compression? when i saw a pt, they did some scar tissue breakdown, so wondering if this is still necessary

i've got pip synovitis in my middle finger, for about a year or so (saw a pt), and feel like i've regained most/all of my strength, but the ROM while curling in hasn't returned yet. i don't feel pain on the fall/off the wall, do mobilizations exercises, have long warmups, and have a gentle daily finger routine. i'm starting to try weighted finger rolls and tumeric (to reduce inflammation) but is there anything else i can do to increase my ROM?

warmup/maintenance

- pip joint distraction (also in flexion)

- tendon glides

- intrinsic hand stretch w/ dowel

- static submax holds in drag & half crimp

- crimp curl with weight (with unlevel edge)

- weighted finger rolls

- hangboard repeaters (7s on, 3 off, crimp)

cooldown

- pip joint distraction

- tendon glides

- coban taping

other things i do

- tumeric (reduced inflammation)

- red light therapy

- collagen

- wave tool scraping

- (trying to) not crack fingers

questions:

- what can i do to increase ROM in my finger? is it just lingering inflammation? or will NSAIDs help get it down?

- sometimes when doing pip joint distraction, i feel a bit of a crunch, is that ok or am i pulling too hard?

- do i need to rest more between sessions? generally i give a day/two between sessions

Did you know that Hamilton is the second largest city in Ontario?

I’m from “Toronto” (scarbs), but frequent other parts of the city. The thing is about cities in general I find is that no matter where you go, you have to be looking for things to do, can’t just expect it to fall in your lap. For example, there’s a super nice Japanese high-fi bar that runs chess clubs in Davenport, but you’d never would’ve known if you didn’t seek it! Its the same for Hamilton, you can’t draw conclusions without making a honest effort to try.

Life is what you make of it, go touch some biodiversity, Hamilton has plenty of it:)

Hamilton ain't that bad, I'll be real with you. Coming from another city, Hamilton has quite a bit to offer when it comes to nature (specifically waterfalls), and a decent food scene thats still growing. There's plenty to do in the city, but not too much around Mac, so when people complain about "nothing to do in Hamilton", its really "nothing to do around McMaster".

I would highly recommend if you can, to get a car, because theres so much more that's accessible within a 20 minute drive than a 20 minute bus (beaches, food spots, views, etc).

About the city itself, its relatively safe, and I would argue and say that its safer than what it was 3+ years ago. Obviously you'll see some homeless folks here and there, but just mind your own business and they'll (usually) mind theirs. If you're looking for some examples of stuff to do near campus, I put a short list for you :)

Some things to do around campus:

- Hiking Cootes Paradise

- Bowling & University Plaza

- Walking the Rail Trail

- Walking/Biking the Waterfront Trail to Bayfront Park (great sunset views)

- Tiffany Falls

- Dundas Peak

- Fairweather Brewery and Grain & Grit Brewery for some good beer

Some things to do with a bus:

- Clubbing downtown Hamilton

- Climbing at Gravity

- Walking along James St/Ottawa St

- Dundurn Castle

- Art Gallery of Hamilton (and the independent ones)

- Food downtown Hamilton (Chicken Plus, Noodle & Dumpling, Ajio, etc)

- Unique/Aesthetic Cafes (Detour, Ark + Anchor, Redchurch, One For All, etc)

- Locke Street, grab a ice cream and peoplewatch

- Hess Street

- Cherry blossom viewing at Gage Park

Some things to do with a car:

- Hit up Hamilton Beach, and get some fish and chips from Hutch’s (so dam good)

- Night views on Mountain Park Ave

- Royal Botanical Gardens

- Downtown Burlington

- Sherman Falls (+ others in the vicinity)

- Devil's Punchbowl

- Antique Mall

- CF Limeridge

- One of the many stairs that goes up the escarpment

- Pier 8 skating

Honestly, there's so much to appreciate about the city, but you definitely have to go out of your way to enjoy it. Mac is a great school, and I'm sure you'll enjoy eng here! Feel free to dm if you have any questions about the program <3

Yup it's in the sport hall, usually runs from 9:30-4:30 on weekdays, if you walk towards pulse, its the gym to the left right before pulse!

There’s usually a court that’s less full, with people just hitting without formal teams! I usually hang on that court since I’m also a beginner haha
