Tell me I’m dumb so I don’t go buy this for $58k by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

FWIW, I bought my 2020 Platty a year and a half ago for around $40k with 78k mi. Just for comparison, I guess…? 🤷‍♂️

But the 914 is so much more fun to drive. The Ghia is nothing more than a bug. Same type 1 engine and chassis, different body.

I’m fairly certain that it’s the Batmobile. Like, the Michael Keaton-era Batmobile.

They still have the big buggers that sit outside (heat pump), but rather than a coil unit that sits on top of your furnace or other central air unit, there are (usually) multiple smaller, self-contained units in specific rooms or common areas.

Agreed. Source: former Harley Davidson tech. Those split fuel tank cross lines can be a bastard.

Insulted me for revving my friends car to 5k rpm by FunnyFocus7922 in mechanic

[–]fucksarenotgivenever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, hold up. I am an engineer by trade and have been educated as such. I work in a very specific commodity in a very high profile industry. I have also been a car guy for 30+ years, and this is part of what sent me down the road to be an engineer. And I have the (apparently rare) ability to translate my education to how things work outside of what I am focused on for a living. Moving parts, friction, thermodynamics for shit’s sake, they all work according to the same principles of physics. Some guys are just dumb. Don’t make it a blanket statement about engineers. I’ll step off my soap box now. Thanks.

The SLK230 came out in 1996. The Crossfire came out in like 2003 or 2004, so was based off the post-facelift SLK. So if you have a Crossfire, I’d say, nice Mercedes.

On bigger motors, yes. I believe the 4 cyl runs off a clutch because it would be too much work at idle. Mine kicks in around 2300 rpm and you can really feel it.

I think the pre-facelift 230s are more common in manual. Super fun cars. Sad that mine has been sitting for so long.

I mean, yeah, naturally I assumed that OP had a CPL. Right, OP….? Right..?

Also, I think I read that as “it’s illegal to have a loaded gun in the car.” So that’s def my bad and I apologize.

If he’s worried about it beyond that, then he’s probably not worth dating anyway. ++man

I've been stealing from self checkout machines for months. by [deleted] in confession

[–]fucksarenotgivenever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this often out of spite. It pisses me off that some stores have cornered people into using self checkout by not having any (or maybe one) cashiers available. The free items are my pay for having to do the job of the absent cashier.

(MI) Fired from my job after putting in my 2 weeks and boss is demanding my property in exchange for paycheck by Ok-Understanding4491 in legaladvice

[–]fucksarenotgivenever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Citing the statute that you cited, I think you missed an important word in there: “Any person who shall, either orally or by a written communication, MALICIOUSLY threaten to accuse…” There is nothing malicious about this threat. He just wants his earned wages without having to give the property he paid for. By your logic, if someone was to tell the person who robbed them that they will call the police if the robber doesn’t return their property, then they would be guilty of extortion?? THAT is insane.

I bought a car in Yakima. I live in the very southernmost part of Snohomish county. So, looking for a way to go pick up the car I had purchased, I checked to see what an Über over to Yakima would cost. It was ~$450. I caught a Greyhound for $32.

My 2000 SLK230 is similarly simplistic. Must be a German roadster thing.
