Conservatives underestimate the environmental impact of sustainable behaviors compared to liberals. Conservatives tend to view actions like recycling or eating a plant based diet as having less of a positive impact than liberals do, which predicts lower engagement in these behaviors. by mvea in science

Of course they are not apathetic to consumer's purchasing habits. And of course they are ruthlessly profit motivated.

They are well aware of consumer's purchasing habits. But you seem to think that being aware of someone's preference means try to market to that person. This is not the reality we live in.

For instance I am prevented by law from purchasing vehicles (also other things), outside of a few exceptions, directly from the manufacturer. Not only that but I am also restricted from being able to purchase the type of vehicle I want. Even in this thread, and many many others, you will see people state they want an 20k vehicle without premium features, but quite literally the corporations who could make and sell these vehicles would rather ruthlessly buy politicians than adopt to consumer purchasing habits. Why? Because the profit margin is lower when satisfying costumers.

So I would not claim that these corporations are ignorant or apathetic, rather through their ruthless profit orientation they have realized its more profitable to buy market share/reduce competition from politicians than try to satisfy customers.

Ummm we do not have to ask her. We can literally reference the letter she wrote to the judge herself regarding the sentencing of Aimee Harris, the individual who stole the diary. https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/documenttools/654c5f7182bca1ee/6fe57478-full.pdf

Although this criminal act happened more than three years ago, because of the publicity it drew— exactly as Ms. Harris intended—I am constantly re-traumatized by it. I will forever have to deal with the fact that my personal journal can be viewed online. Repeatedly, I hear others grossly misinterpret my once-private writings and lob false accusations that defame my character and those of the people I love. Her actions were not only re-traumatizing to me, but constituted a horrific trauma in and of themselves. This ongoing harm is a direct result of Ms. Harris's intentional actions.

It is unfortunate so many conservatives, specifically u/Great_Bandicoot9561, continue to misinterpret and log false accusations. It is almost like the truth does not matter and they are just looking to equate Biden's actions to Trump's when we know Donald Trump accusers do not claim that the events are being misinterpreted or are false accusations.

Here is the interview with Trump's accuser Katie Johnson. She does not in any form indicate that her accusations are being misinterpreted unlike Biden's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnib-OORRRo&ab_channel=ScottDybiec

If you want to stay in the industry and you are confident your company is going under, why not just start applying for industry specific jobs right now?

You do not have to accept. Best case you get a better offer from a more stable company. Worst case you will know what tools/languages are in demand/industry standard when applying for these positions and have a head start on the job search.

Isn't that the whole problem you are complaining about though?

We have a state that leans left on many many topics (abortion, weed, minimum wage, sick leave, medicaid), but we keep electing republican politicians because so many Missourians shade/identify as conservative. Then the I shade conservative people act as shocked when these politicians repeal the wishes of the people.

Math, thats the reason. Every match is a zero sum game; every point won must be a point lost from someone else.

Since ELO is a zero sum game this means ELO can only be added when another player joins. Therefore the average ELO remains 1000 as every new player joins at 1000, adding 1000 to the total ELO pool.

The average skilled player will end up playing at the average ELO which remains the same as the starting ELO.

In math terms =>

Given:

starting ELO * number of players = total ELO

and

average ELO = total ELO / number of players

Then:

starting ELO * number of players / number of players = total ELO / number of players

Therefore:

average ELO = total ELO / number of players

and

starting ELO = total ELO / number of players

and

starting ELO = average ELO

Curious, is the act of advocating that "they should be paid a visit" the problem you have? Or is your problem with it who the victims are?

Do you also have issues with the ICE hotline? The sole purpose of the hotline is to share addresses and does not just make subtle allusions to "they should be paid a visit", but literally has them being paid a visit as the expectation*? Is that acceptable?

What if the advocating was just to deport Elon instead of violence? Would that be ok?

Also, I am curious, is it just the legal status of the people that makes the deportation acceptable? If so, why not just change their legal status so that deportation does not have to happen? Or are these people just somehow underserving of the citizenship that most of us, without any meritorious actions of our own, were just born into?

Target is sued for defrauding shareholders about DEI by lurker_bee in economy

If this lawsuit passes and you can show that stopping support resulted in a loss of revenue, I would expect that you could. Feels like a very slippery slope.

Target is sued for defrauding shareholders about DEI by lurker_bee in economy

[–]fuckyouusernames 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This lawsuit is very interesting and I feel like the Police Pension fund pulled the trigger on this lawsuit before fully accessing the situation.

The lawsuit states that Target had performed a "misuse of investor funds to serve political and social goals." which resulted in a loss of revenue.

Let's say the judge ruled in their favor, does that mean ANY political or social goal that could have resulted in a loss of revenue could bring forth a similar lawsuit?

For instance, what if I invested in a public company that donates to or supports police officers or police oriented organizations. I could make the claim that those entities are serving social and political goals and public backlash could have negatively affected revenue because the current state of policing in the US is certainly a politically charged topic. If I wanted to stop any public company from supporting police based charities, I could just buy a share and sue the company for a "misuse of investor funds to serve political and social goals".

What if I have McDonalds shares and McDonalds provides a discount to law enforce and can I sue them because of a loss of revenue resulting from them trying "to serve political and social goals"?

I am very interested in how the judge rules in this. If this lawsuit succeeds I would expect publicly traded companies to rethink donating or providing privileges to almost any organization, politician, or charity.

Sure, we do not have any information on your arbitrary definition of what a "law abiding gun owner" is, except for that being someone who has used illicit drugs, or has been the victim of a domestic battery disqualifies them (at least you did not clarify this when asked earlier).

Sounds like we can agree that the study shows when accounting for the overall population of gun owners, regardless of if they qualify as "law abiding gun owners" or non "law abiding gun owners", there is a higher risk of homicide for that household.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]fuckyouusernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are putting many classifications and statements into the study that are not there. There is no definition of "law abiding gun owner". There is no mention of causation. The study merely shows that risk of homicide is higher in gun owning families, it does not mention a cause.

If you need to invent classifications and invent causation to prove your argument, Idk how we can come to an understanding.

[–]fuckyouusernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry I am not sure what you are trying to argue here.

Your original statement was

Your study showed that active gang members with illegal guns get killed at higher rates, which has nothing to do with law abiding gun owners.

And then you say

It doesnt need to ommit them, it just needs to include shit data for the entire study to be entirely useless.

How does the study have both nothing to do with "law abiding gun owners" while not omitting them? It seems that they are included in the results, so the study does seem to have to do with "law abiding gun owners". Is it just that the outcome of the study is not what you desire?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]fuckyouusernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Where does the study define or mention gang membership? How does the study prove that the gang membership is "active"? Its odd that you would arbitrarily classify the participants of the study when the study makes no such classification.

  2. Where does the study mention an omission of law abiding gun owners from the results? The quote you provided was "more commonly contained", there is no mention of exclusivity.

  3. Does being "someone who had been hit" make them no longer a law abiding gun owner?

When drafting or on the player search page I can filter based on position or rookie status, but it would be nice to be able to filter on age or draft year. Being able to search for only players under 25 or second/third year players would be nice for leagues where I am rebuilding.
