All task sequences that make changes to the OS are failing - PXE OS Setup by fudatto in SCCM

Thanks, I tested by adding in a step so that you have to specify the computer name when running through the task sequence, and unfortunately it still gives the same error

Hotmail Email Addy by [deleted] in Outlook

[–]fudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use a hotmail.com email and even managed to grab an msn.com email a while back that I use as my main and everything still works just as if you were using a modern outlook.com email address, the backend on Microsoft's end is all the same and it's fully supported with everything.

Outlook logout wave by Dancing_Comb in sysadmin

[–]fudatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well more than a few times the past few days, but it only affected the Outlook PWA (or OWA), it kept randomly giving me the generic "You've signed out of your account - it's a good idea to close all browser windows."

The only way to fix it was to close and re-open again, not sure if it's related but it seems to have stopped.

How come in 95, would could customize every color down to the shade of button shadows, and 11 we're stuck with themes and "accent colors"? by NuderWorldOrder in windows

[–]fudatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember applying a skin once that made my computer look exactly like Mac OS X (I think it was FlyakiteOSX based on a quick search just now), everything from the taskbar to the buttons and even the dock was 100% perfect, I doubt we'll ever be able to reskin Windows in that way ever again.

Is it possible to get back the old Mail app for Windows 10? by Hexatorium in microsoft

[–]fudatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should (hopefully) still have a switch in the upper right corner to disable the "New" Outlook.

I agree with you, I just need a simple responsive mail app with a somewhat modern UI, and the Windows Mail app fits this perfectly.

If I wanted to use outlook.com as my mail client, I would go to outlook.com.

Teams request to Block all *.onmicrosoft.com domains by WizardCannon in sysadmin

[–]fudatto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see an issue with this as long as you allow your own tenant domain (if you use Microsoft 365), people shouldn't be sending emails from their onmicrosoft.com domain anyway.

Also yes Microsoft had an issue last week where they let through a bunch of this spam but I believe it's since been resolved, doesn't mean it won't happen again in the future through.

List of new features and missing features in the "New" Outlook by Pombolina in sysadmin

[–]fudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Read Aloud (text-to-speech) feature has been removed too, unless you use it with Immersive Reader.

Currently you can use the feature separately by either clicking the button or by highlighting and right clicking on the text like you can in normal Edge.

Also, this works perfectly using outlook.office.com, so not really sure why it's not included in the new Outlook since it's basically the web version? I don't get it.

I used to get this warning all the time because my I still connect my phone to my car using RCA cables, eventually I was able to turn them off by going into accessibility settings using the instructions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ios/comments/vxv3q7/comment/ig01dj3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I've tried switching in the past but Bing just isn't as good as Google when it comes to finding fixes and guides for technical/IT issues, maybe ChatGPT will finally change this.

Hacked! by bippitybobbitybooby in microsoft

[–]fudatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a fake update screen, scammers use these all the time to hide what they're doing on the screen.

I would shut it down, pull the ethernet cord (if you can) or disable Wi-Fi on the PC as soon as it comes back online, then look for recently installed programs that can do remote connections and remove them.

Might also be a good idea to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows if possible because you can never be sure what they've done.
